Pieces Of My Heart. Not A Love Story. To Make You Mad, Laugh And Cry.

piecesofmyheart
Why a biography where motorcycles are just in the background and are not the main topic of this book should be mentioned in my Blog? Because some life stories need to be told to as many as possible, and I am proud of helping spread the word about Katy Ishee blistering ride of unwed motherhood, familial alienation, bikers, drugs, and insane asylums.

She is a strong willed person who survived being coerced in giving away a child, who traveled several times coast to coast jumping all hurdles of life, suffered abuse in silence, screamed to be heard, never gave up on her dreams, still finding the strength to laugh and to give love to others.

You will get mad hen you hear about her fights with governmental mental institutions, laugh at her biker stories and maybe cry reading her no-love stories and end up feeling good about her demonstration of resilience, realizing the ability we all have to overcome what life can throw at us. A movie in preparation? Who deserve it more than Katie Ishee. A gem. Pieces Of My Heart.

    Cyril,

Your review echos my feelings on Katy’s book. It is definitely a roller coaster ride with a happy ending!!! It made me laugh and it brought tears. Katy’s story is real life stuff and many will find something that parallels their own life!

This book is a must read!!!

I started reading Katie’s book, and i couldn’t put it down….10 hours later I turned the last page…rivetting is not the right word, but its close enough. I usually know in the first 10 or so pages if a book has what it takes to keep me occupied….This author had me from the get-go…open and honest…with a mixture of humour and trajedy….what more can you ask for in a book.

Do yourself a favour…..get in touch with Katy and order yourself a copy….you won’t regret the purchase.

I am half way through and got to say the lady has spunk to pick herself back up that many times. I only hope the second half is that good. Heck, after reading some of the things she went through I would love to give her an hour long hug.

I have Katy’s book and my wife got her hands on it before I had a chance to read it. She said it is good and promises I will get it back soon.
I am looking forward to reading it.

Your review is right on target. I could not put it down, so I read it straight through. Have since read Pieces of My Heart again. Do not know how this women survived all that was done to her. You cannot go wrong in reading it.

  8. 8 NeeCee Feb 12th, 2010 at 9:10 am

    What a BOOK!!!

Cyril’s review is dead on. Katy’s story made me laugh, cry and get angry. I had a serious problem with putting it down after I started reading it. I applaud her for telling her story and being so honest and straight forward! Her life has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs and it is definitely portrayed in every word she wrote. She’s a very strong woman and I’m in awe of that strength and so happy the way the book ended!

If you haven’t read it, GET A COPY and do it! Well worth the read…you’ll be amazed at this woman’s strength and determination!

I sincerely hope that someone will make a movie of this book. I would definitely pay to see it! (Or be glad to offer my assistance as an extra in it! *grin)

This book is incredible. I was curious about it before I received my copy – but when I started to read it – it gripped me until the last page. I could NOT put it down.

I’ve just started reading it for a 2nd time – want to absorb more of the story that I’m sure escaped me the first time since I was racing through it. This time I will take my time.

This book would make a fantastic movie – As with most movies they would have to cut a lot out, but with the right director and producer this could be the #1 movie of the decade.

HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this book. You will be pulled in and live the story through Katy’s words.

Well, Katy, you did it!! You got your story in print for all the world to read! How you survived what you have gone through is beyond me. But I know how strong and strong willed you are and you never say never! Blessings to you and your wonderful son, Steve.

  11. 11 Debbie Feb 12th, 2010 at 11:16 am

What can I say about Katy’s book that hasn’t already been said. It’s an awesome ride with bikers, friends, lovers and a ride into the depths of hell with ex’s, psyche wards and electroshock therapy! I could so relate to this story having given up my first born to adoption. It was like I was right there with Katy as she journeyed her way through life in a fog looking for the only love she’d never have from her husbands or friends, the love and acceptance of her son. She persevered and never gave up hope of finding him either. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll absolutely fall in love with Katy and “Pieces of My Heart.”

  12. 12 Susie Feb 12th, 2010 at 12:13 pm

“Pieces” is one of the best books I have read in a very long time.
I laughed and I cried and I got goosebumps at some points. A MUST READ for everyone who enjoys things said “LIKE THEY ARE!”

Katy’s book will capture your heart and hold on tight. She reveals just how strong the human spirit can be. This book will make you laugh, cry and get angry as hell. Katy will take you on the ride of her life and you will feel like you are right there with her through the ups and downs and the roller coaster ride to hell and back. You can read this book and then read it again because you won’t want to miss a thing! Get your copy of “Pieces Of My Heart” and go on the journey of a lifetime! You won’t regret it and you’ll never forget it!

Your review was dead on!!!! I read Katy’s book and was in awe of this woman. Her struggles, her pain, so many of the feelings that one sometimes thinks they are alone in. She was and still is a woman that I would give anything to meet. I just want to hug her and tell her thank you. I can’t wait to read it again, and feel so blessed to have an autographed copy. Can’t WAIT for the movie.

Katy’s book is a must read. It’s heartwarming and I couldn’t put it down once I read the first page

  16. 16 Katy Ishee Feb 12th, 2010 at 4:26 pm

Wow! Thanks to all of you of have gotten your autographed copy of PIeces. Now you can see why it took me 18 years to write it. LO Thanks so much for your support!
Your words of encouragement and kindness really make the pain worth it. And for those out there who haven’t read it,
you can order your autographed copy at http://www.katyishee.com

I am hoping when Pieces becomes a movie, those that have read it and know the story will be first in line as extras in the movie. Just the field meet and the wedding will need 800 bikers and I will ask that this be part of the deal.

Already have some rock’n biker chics writing music for Pieces. So get ya a copy and hang on. It’s a wild ride!

  17. 17 Jim Feb 12th, 2010 at 4:35 pm

I read your review and it is right on. I bought and read Katy’s book Pieces of My Heart. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. I finished it in two days. It is a great read about personal struggle and triumph. A weaker person would have broken and lived a life of misery. Not Katy – she struggled, scratched, kicked, and cried till she finally realized her dream. It is really amazing how her life parallels and touches not just my own, but the lives of many other people that we all know. It is a lesson in survival and courage. I feel blessed to know Katy and to have a pre-released autographed copy of her book. I highly recommend it to anyone. Now I just can’t wait for the movie to come out.

  18. 18 Linda Feb 12th, 2010 at 5:40 pm

I love this book. I also finished in two days. In fact, I got so anxious I had to go back and re-read parts as I was so anxious to get to the part where she finally gets to talk with her son. It was heart-warming and full of love and passion. It also made me so mad in some spots about the way katy was treated by the men in her life, bikers or boyfriends. Everyone should read this boook. It is great.!

I got my copy of Katy`s book a few weeks back, and I read it cover to cover in two days !
All 380 pages of it !
What a great talent this woman is ! and what a story she has to tell !!!
I was right there with her on every page,
A good book will have you running a movie in your mind as you read it,
and this book accomplished that , and then some !
Hell, I think I even heard the sound track !!!!
Katy is a true hero, and the enbodiment of the strong American woman who can overcome
the harshest of obsticles, while never failing to appreciate lifes little blessings,
And the family reunion will make your heart soar !
Katy, if I ever meet you in person, Your damn right your getting a hug !
    I Highly reccomend this book.

I have known Katy for about a year and she is an extraordinary person. In a homogenized nation where everyone is expected to “fit in,” Katy is a prime example of that unique person who cannot – more precisely will not – “fit in” simply because others tell her she must.

If the cliche, “the harder life is the more we appreciate it” is true, there are not many of us who appreciate life more than Katy. She spent the major part of her life on a quest for the Holy Grail, her son, but unlike King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table was finally successful.

It is this quest that is Katy’s life but more importantly the character of the person that enabled her to continue her quest when so many others would have given up is her true self.

Is Katy’s life worthy of being made into a movie. Definitely!

Now, who can we got to play her part?

  21. 21 Jonesy Feb 14th, 2010 at 1:20 am

Do you think Meryl Streep will be available to play Katy?

  22. 22 Luuezz Feb 14th, 2010 at 10:18 am

Katy sent me her autographed book last month and I did a review on her biography for Rumble News. She is a truely an inspirational woman biker for all of us to look up to, when life throws us a curve ball of disasters. Here is some of what I wrote…

Talk about touching a nerve. This is a book that men and women will pass around to each other with a brief handwritten note tucked inside the cover, “You have to read this!”

Sometimes you have to leave your life behind for awhile to see it and really live it freshly again. Sometimes heart breaking, sometimes humorous, always brutally honest and hardcore.

Katy recalls her rebellious ways and crazy times of being an renegade biker chick. From insane asylums, she tells stories of unspeakable horror, ECT (electroshock, shock treatment, shock therapy. The most common side effects of ECT are memory loss and cognitive damage.) that have long been shrouded in secrecy and until now. Her quest to refusing to give up looking for a son would linger in her memory like a treasured photograph in this gut-wrenching story. Katy braids together past, present and the events of one desperate day in a haunting true story in which the sins of the past threaten to destroy a wicked red-blooded original; Mother’s fragile equilibrium of present.

There’s not been anything like it since “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest!

Meryl Streep. Jees Jonsesy, Don’t see that at all. LMAO, I think Zellwigger would be good, but can she ride a motorcycle? Going to need a good stunt rider for the field meet and the drag race. I’d love to see that done right! LO!

Hollywood has always avoided ECT in the movie, maybe giving 30 seconds to the audience
and makin it look like not much, but it’s let me tell ya, as these people here know, it’s a cross between a grand mal seizure, the electric chair, and a torture rack.

I wouldn’t wish this on anyone and I pray to God nobodyd reading this ever puts a loved one thru that hell
    .
Most Americans don’t know it’s a multi billion $$ business today and coming back stronger than ever. Electro convulsive shock is the HORRID! If you don’t get that after reading PIeces then guess you will never get it, Brain damage is not good for anyone.

Thanks Luuezz. In case you bikers out there haven’t met Luueez, this biker lady is not only a beautiful woman, she also does some kickass art.
    Thanks Luueez

Great book. I recommend the reading for everyone, even if you’re not a biker.

This is about a woman making her way in the world despite, and against, the worst of adversity and circumstances.

Katy you’re always a star in my book.

    Cyril,
Kathy Ishee’s book “Pieces of my heart”, is right on. Kathy has all of our emotions nailed perfectly. The horrific pain of being “sent away” to have our beautiful babies, then being forced to leave them with the “powers that be”, all in the name of LOVE! We now all know that none of that was done for love, only on our part, so our children could have, what was termed a” better future”. Our hearts were ripped apart in doing so, some are still not mended. If someone did not go through such a betrayal, could know our anguish. Kathy is right on, she speaks for many of us.

I can tell you that as a mother who also lost my son to adoption the same year as Katy, that she tells it like it really was.

She perfectly describes how pregnant, single women were made to feel during that time – we had shamed our family, ruined our reputation and then coerced into giving up our babies which was pretty much like having one’s soul raped.
    Great book!

  28. 28 Ellie Feb 23rd, 2010 at 8:26 am

Great book!! I’ve sent several to friends as gifts. It a must read.
    Can’t wait for the movie!!

  29. 29 SKim Feb 23rd, 2010 at 9:28 am

I’m only halfway through the book and can’t put it down. This is a raw telling of the truth without all the flowery prettying up you find in most books, especially autobiographies. I agree its a must read for all women in any way affected by adoption, domestic violence, divorce, controlling narcisistic parents and any of the many issues coming of age in the 60’s posed for women. If you wish to be a survivor rather than a victim…read this book.

Thank you for sharing a very touched story.
I feel we all go through certain things for a reason to learn fromand to make us grow within ,some more then others.
But to stay strong and be positive today is a very hard thing to do.
Many Blessings to all that can do this in life!
