When you have been working in the motorcycle business during 40 years as a painter, certified mechanic, parts designer, custom builder, Harley-Davidson dealer and more, you have seen the best and the worst of everything. So, you know what works or not. And when you look at what has worked before you can’t avoid to wonder if it can be improved.
And knowing a little bit about motorcycle trends, Bob McKay just found a way to give a new twist to two popular vintage 50’s to 70’s era engine air breathers to perfectly complement the look and offer good breath to new old school bikes. The originals were cast, and these ones are CNC machined 6061 billet aluminum, then sandblasted with a final Scotch Brite finish. One is an air deflector for Linkert carburetors, the other is an air cleaner for Linkert, Bendix, Keihin carburetors (will fit right or left side). They would be very easily polished, but nothing looks more retro than a matte finish especially if you adopt the same treatment for your engine rocker boxes, controls, wheels, covers, etc. Your call. Finned Cover retails for $110.00, Teardrop Breather for $250.00. call Bob McKay on my behalf at 613-547-0609 or visit his website at McKay Cycle Creations.
