2010 World Championship Of Custom Bike Building

The prestigious custom motorcycle show event is scheduled from August 8th to 11th at the Sturgis, South Dakota Champions Park.

I know very well that some may challenge the relevance of some bike shows, but in any case you must admit that by encouraging the bike building, they support and stimulate all the men and women of the custom motorcycle industry.

Not only builders but also part designers and big name motorcycle production manufacturers who observe big trends ad cool ideas to adapt them later on their factory models… Regarding the AMD World Championship and its affiliate shows in Europe, some may not know that the builders judge each others’ work (of course except their own competing bike.) As a matter of fact, 99% of the competitors make their living in the motorcycle industry. So, if you want to raise your level of visibility and credibility, this post to tell you that registration is now open for your participation in one of the following classes: Freestyle, Production Harley-Davidson (including Screaming Eagle), Production Manufacturer and Metric. Description of classes, rules/regulations and registration after the jump to 2010 AMD World Championship Of Bike Building. (Picture 2009 Champion, Bike Rambler by Cook Customs)

The AMD shows world wide are class acts. And thank you Cyril for bringing out who does the judging and also the fact that 99% of the competitors are in the industry. This should forestall some of the expected squealing and whining that so often arises here, way too often from ignorance. And here I use ignorance as the dictionary defines it as ‘a state of not knowing’ not as a pejorative comment.

The judging system is the most fairest of any and being placed by fellow competitors is very fulfilling. Even a distant placing in the world championship is something to be proud of. One also can’t leave out the worldly comaradere and the lifelong friends we make at the show.

An incredible event and we are fortunate to have it in Sturgis.
Everyone should enlighten themselves and make the time to stop by during their trip to the rally. It ‘s the world’s best on display and it’s filled with wonder and surprise. This is one event you won’t leave disappointed!

i think its great to see in real life all different styles of bikes from all over the world
    in the one place.
as for the judging,, as mike kiwi says its the fairest you can get.
you will go home from that show amazed at all the new idea’s that the builders
    have come up with.
some of them totally impractical, but outstanding none the less.

The AMD’s need to require that the custom bikes can actually function. We don’t need anymore abortions like the bike Kris Krone displayed last year.

Run testing this year will require bikes to start, pull away under their own power, corner and stop. Most bikes last year did this in the lot behind the tent in which the show was held. Hopefully we’ll have video of all the bikes compelting the run test on screens in the tent.
