PhatBack Kit For Your Harley-Davidson Touring Model

Not really my style but I understand that some of you can like it. From a young company I just discovered – they incorporated in 2008 – the PhatBack RT (RT for rumble trunk) is conceived to extend the cruising aspect of your bagger with a concealed storage compartment that opens like a rumble seat.

It’s a kit weighting 34 pounds, measuring 76″L x 22″W x 22″H, with a 1.0 cu ft of storage (17″H x 7″D x 11″W) that you can install in two hours and remove in two minutes with no frame modification.

It’s made of hand-laid fiberglass with reinforcement at mounting points for full frame support. It includes solo seat pan (King/Queen optional) and the kit is delivered primed and ready-to-paint. MSRP is $2,799, lights and trunk hardware are not included. Old Skool Cycle Werks.

Looks like a ghetto booty for your touring bike. Interesting look though, you can put quite a bit of junk in that trunk!

Coming from someone who rides a stripped down minimalist rigid Chopper, I’m almost embarrassed to say that I really like that. It just seems to have great almost art-deco styling. The hidden exhausts, with matching dual outlets is pretty neat.

    I agree….

For those looking for something different, this is different.
Not really my kinda thing but it does have a cool factor… a nostalgic look and appears to be done well. Good to see something new with a refined look, definitely much better than that awful attempt made by Victory/Polaris.

cool in the light of a chopped Merc

“trunk hardware not included” ? Meaning the latch & hinge or the decorative chrome pieces?

I think is a good option for cruiser bikes.

17″ x 11″ x 7″ sounds like you just eliminate 1 saddlebag worth of storage or more.

Hey Guys thanks for all of your comments. Initially, we offered hardware only to find customers (usually custom builders) were opting for something of their own design or liking (top hinge versus bottom, etc). We actually ask the customer when they order if they want our hinge systems. As for charges, I would give the hinges and latch for free if it meant making the sale(they actually cost us about $45 for the set). Hoyt got it right, the kit was designed after a chopped 49 merc. I know its’ not everyones style but we have gotten great reviews and several best of shows with a $2,800 kit, including the HD 105th Anny. Your feedback and suggestions help a lot and provide good insight on new directions. I would love your feedback on our Phatillac kit. Fire away!!! Thank you!!!!!

Sollis- I can’t imagine that the majority of the people who are buying this contraption actually ride their bikes enough to wear out the tires or get an oil change more than 2 times a decade! Those are not the kind of riders who go around corners scraping anything. I think it is definitely interesting and unique, but not my cup of tea

I like it, check out the site. Funny I have been thinking along these very ideas the past couple weeks and low and behold this guy is doing something I have been dreaming of.

Great job and it reminds me of some of Ness stuff from the past.

Love the retro 30’s to 40’s big fender look. also reminds me of some of the 50’s Low Rider car stuff. Indeed wood grain might be the next addition!

Once again, thanks for all of the constructive comments. While many bike designs are not my “style”, I can still appreciate the artistry and creativity of the designer. I can always appreciate the willingness of those who design and introduce their creations for the world to see and even submit themselves to the totally unecessary comments of those who have perhaps never designed anything in their lives. I’m not trying to be argumentative but I personally ride my bikes “YEAR ROUND” and most EVERY DAY as I live in sunny Florida. As for the miles, I would put my miles per year up against any real rider out there. Nuff said.

I own this bike; a lot of the comments are somewhat incorrect, but understand first impressions. In person, the bike brings attention from all riders, of all types…. From daily drivers, collectors, and yes even many chapter members. I have several bikes and this one no matter where I go, I get positive feedback from true riders. When I drive my old cadillac over my marcielago, this bike gives me that feeling of truly old school.
