Are You Doing Biketoberfest Or Hogtoberfest?

This coming week, the motorcycle industry is back in Daytona Beach for the 18th edition of Biketoberfest (official dates are October 14-17) although many bikers make it de facto a week long event starting today October 8th.

And they have good reasons to extend their stay with the city hosting this weekend a Daytona Blues Festival and the spectacular Wings and Waves Air Show (October 9-10) over the shoreline in front of the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. So, the answer is yes, all traditional biker bars, food courts on Main Street will be open this weekend…

This year the biggest outdoor musical events will be a concert in City Island Park with Gretchen Wilson headlining (October 16) and JamFest Music Festival in Edgewater (also Oct. 16, 3pm) Regarding specific biker activities there will be a spillover in Central Florida, especially in Orlando with the city Harley Dealer organizing a 4-day event called Hogtoberfest highlighted with a concert by Jimmy Van Zant band playing Lynyrd Skynird songs, and 38 Special. Of course, most bikers will stay around Daytona Beach (Millers, International Speedway, Beach Street, Main street) and Ormond Beach (Rossmeyer Harley-Davidson) to test motorcycles, visit part manufacturers, custom builders and all traditional vendors.

Custom motorcycle builders and owners will be busy showing their creations in the following bike shows: October 14. Choppertime Bike Show at Tropical Tattoos, 825 South Yonge Street (U.S. 1 across from Publix), Ormond Beach. 10PAM to 4PM. Music from The Fubars. Registration from 10AM to 2PM, awards at 4PM. Well I live here in Daytona so that’s an easy one to answer. Weather has been perfect – just broke 70′ last week (last day below 70 was May 12th). See ya Thr at Tropical for the junk show – best in town. Have a safe weekend.

I will be in town on Thursday the 14th and taking photos for publication.
I do like the show at Tropical Tattoos and of course will visit the Limpnickie Builders Lot.
I like the BFFAR (Bikers For First Amendment Rights) on 144 Ridgewood Avenue
Holly Hill, as they keep the prices the same all year, the beer is cold and the food is good, yea they have alcohol as well etc.
The Broken Spoke is definately on the schedule as are some of the other similar places.
I will be looking at new products, specifically more light on the front of my 2009 FLHT
Destination Daytona and the vendors at the racetrack are always good.
Hopefully I will see you there. If we are in the same place have me take your photo.

Planning on doing some photo work at the Boardwalk show – anybody know where the vintage bikes usually are? Looking for preWW2 and post war bikes of the late 40’s and 50’s.
