Speedo And Tacho Anyone?

Some customize by removing their bike’s speedometer and tachometer. Others wish they had them installed. For them,  Dakota Digital, the instrumentation and specialty electronics expert, is introducing the new STM-100 Data Bus Breakout Module.

It allows you to install speedometers and tachometers on 2004-up Harley Davidson motorcycles (excluding 2011 Softail models) with less cutting and splicing of wires.

The STM-100 simply plugs into the stock diagnostic port located under the seat or side cover and has outputs for traditional speed and tach signals check engine light, power and ground, and you can even read and clear diagnostic trouble codes without purchasing a scan tool.  Speed signal is output is 8,000 pulses per mile while tach signal can be output in 1, 2, or 4 cylinder signals. The STM-100 retails for $139.95 and is covered by a 24 month warranty against manufacturer defects. Call 800-852-3228 for info or to order a catalog, or visit Dakota Digital

First thing, this module should make installation of aftermarket gauges from any manufacturer a very simple task and eliminate Data Bus signaling issues that can at times keep a tech chasing his or her tale. It use to be you could get around the Data Bus signal with ease. However now almost everything in a modern fuel injected harley operates from signaling on the Data Bus. It should be a good product.

To A1 cycles. Thanks for thanking Dakota Digital, Namz and Klock Werks. It was nice to read something positive from within the industry that involved Thanks and Gratitude. More of that and less knocking a brother down is what everyone needs.

Faceless mud slinging on the internet gets old real fast.

    Have a great day!
    Joe

    PS
Chopmonster66! My 72 ironhead only has an oil pressure gauge. Sometimes simple is nice! Old bikes don’t need more stuff to fix anyway. God love the old stuff!!!

A trait of a Freebird Custom is the speedos don’t seem to want to work, try as I might. Even with Dakota Digital info centers there is always something that doesn’t get along with my scooters. Everything else works like the turn signals, oil, high beam, shift sensors, milage meters, etc. Kinda a voodoo thing. Go with the flow of traffic plus five an’ you’ll be fine. Wiz
