I had a freak accident one time when I was a young man ridin’ my ’67 Honda 305 SuperHawk, on which I had installed a set of the old “Z” bars. I went down on a muddy road and my face connected with the points on the bars. Damn near ripped my nose off! All that was left holding my snoz on was a 1/4″ of nostril on one side. I was way out in the wilds of South Dakota an’ by the time I got to some help [an old Norwegian doctor in the next town who said he couldn’t do anything ‘cept put a bandaid on it] it was about 3 hours. So my parents [I was only 16 at the time] had to drive 70 miles to the hospital in Pierre. The emergency room doctor had just finished with another youngster who was hit on his motorcycle from the side by a car an’ drove the footpeg between the bones of his lower leg. So when I came in lookin’ like some kind of horror movie he was really pissed at motorcycles an’ did not have any compassion fer me. He angrily put 47 stiches in my nose an’ a bunch more into my forehead ’cause in the accident it had also got ripped and flapped back. I was a mess! When I got out of the hospital after about a week my Honda was sittin’ in front of our trailer house covered in dried blood from one end to the other [I was checking it out fer damage with blood squirtin’ profusely from my wounds]. Something to consider when you put sharp points on yer scooter. Wiz

These are a sweet looking unit indeed. A very slick way to switch out the stock units for these ultra cool replacements. My experiences with HHI have always been very positive. And while Wiz has a point (get it?) motorcycling is full of dangers and that is actually part of its charm. The day that we all ride airbag equipped Lead Wings, or their equivalent will be a very sad one. Want safe? Stay home and don’t bathe.

These bars save me time and monney on my last built. All assembled, ready to instaled and the exact shape & mesurement like ordered.
HHi will absolutly need to figure or design something else regarding switches&internal throttle&master cyl. set-up. Nightmare when time is to work on. The inside diameter of bars at the end where the internal throttle attatch to was to big, not the same diameter of unit at all. So a big loose on the grip. The internal throtle was fixed with a simple side screew in that thin wall tubingh. Wasn’t fixing it right at all.
The way that the wires of those switches get in to the bars are personaly not a good set-up, I brook one by handeling it.
After welding a thiker wall piece of tubing at the end of bars using 2 set screews on each side, the internal throttle is working good now.
I think that I was one of the first to instaled a set of those bars, they maybe solve those problem since.
If not I am sure they will.
Good product, not a bad pricing, just need some tuned-up.

Had a set on my Kawasaki 500 H1 in 1973 orn1974 and I remember the Bike fell over, real easy and Bars snapped at the weld.

Speakin’ of snapping off at the weld. Years ago I wuz puttin’ down a thurofare on my ’48 Panhead chopper with 4 inch “Z” bars, smoozin’ with a bunch of young chicks in a car next to me. I noticed the driver’s expression change when she looked ahead, there was a station wagon stopped in the road! I slammed into the back of it at around 35 mph. Busted them bars off in my hand going thru the back window! Still got ’em up on the shelf. Wiz

Let me revise that, I’ve been clinically dead three times on the operating table. So I guess it has killed me. I’ve been to the other side so I can tell you this is all an illusion! It’s like the fish that was caught an’ released an’ was talkin’ to another fish later and nervously said skakeing, “I was in the friggin’ boat MAN!!” Wiz
