Desperado Junction Expo. The New Sturgis Hot Spot In The Black Hills.

Jeff Nicklus from Desperado Motorcycles and The Golden Hills Resort and Convention Center have teamed up to present a new and different Black Hills Rally experience known as The Desperado Junction Expo. Desperado Junction Expo is a new Black Hills Rally Vendor Site located at the corner of Highway 14 and Glendale Drive in Lead, South Dakota. If, during your visits to the Black Hills Rally, you have ever ridden up or down Spearfish Canyon you have passed directly in front of this location. In fact, as you pass through Lead, the only stoplight in town is at the junction of Highway 14 and Glendale Drive …. directly in front of the Desperado Junction Expo site! This location may well be one of the best locations in the Black Hills for a new Vendor Site.

The Desperado Junction Expo will offer visitors a hand chosen group of Upscale Vendors, Bikini Bike Wash, Bands playing daily, a Miss Desperado Junction Contest, a Leather & Lace Auction, free bike parking, Great Food and a Large Beer Tent with an extraordinary selection of drinks as well as $1.00 draft beer all day, every day. If you are a vendor, Jeff Nicklus wants to offer you a deal you can’t refuse. In keeping with his belief that the Black Hills Rally vendor fees are, and have always been, way expensive he is willing to do this: for the first two (2) years he will comp all vendor space fees! You read that right, the space is FREE.

But The Desperado Junction Expo will only be accepting a total of 22 vendors and will hand select only those vendors who have a history of representing themselves and their business in a professional manner. Only vendors offer different products will be accepted. For example, there will be three motorcycle manufacturers on site; however, these three manufacturers will display and build very different styles of bikes so as not to conflict with one another. Only one leather vendor will be allowed, one ice cream vendor, one beer vendor, (food vendors will have to offer different types of food.) The limiting of vendor overlap will insure that everyone has an equal opportunity to profit from their investment and enjoy their Desperado Junction Expo experience.

To apply to become a vendor please either call 281-259-0550,or email:  sales@desperadojunction.com or fax your request to: 281-259-8277. When emailing or faxing include a very brief description of what your company sells or displays. Desperado Junction Expo

I would expect nothing less from the writer of “Sturgis for Dummies” articles. Putting his money where his mouth is – I think this is the greatest contribution to a poor economy and slow industry from one of the best in the industry. Wonder why all those “As Seen on TV” types haven’t contributed like this! Yet another reason why you just gotta love this guy! In my mind anyone that chooses to vend at Desperado Junction (cool logo by the way!) YOU OWE HIM mountains of gratitude! Desperado Junction will be my first stop in the Black Hills this year and with beer and food may well be my only stop!
Jeff, just in case you read this will you have Desperado Junction Expo t-shirts available and if so will you be signing these as well as autographs?

Sorry guys, I’ve been up and down Spearfish Canyon a few times. I don’t recall the exact spot but I’d hate to see any other BS added to it. Keep it in town.

“…first two (2) years he will comp all vendor space fees!…”

Now that’s the type of “Stimulus Package” a failing economy needs.
Not to mention an educational moment for the current administration complements of Desperado.
Let’s hope they’re smart enough to pick up on it.

And on the industry side, it’s a great example of a positive industry leader leader image.
    (as opposed to media moronics)

    Good work brother Jeff.

I’ve been thinking about changing up my Sturgis. I know where to tell everyone to find me this year.

  10. 10 Grayhawk Jan 29th, 2011 at 4:48 am

Not only a positive move as Nicker stated but a pretty forward thinking move to develop and grow a point of interest. Good thought out move for an old guy. Conrad must have helped Jeff with that one.LOL

Where exactly at that intersection is this going to be? as you come up through lead and get to the light there’s a motel on the right, a cemetery across the street and a municipal building or something like that on the left. if it’s at that stop light I don’t see how, unless it’s that little motel parking lot.

  13. 13 Jeff Nicklus Jan 29th, 2011 at 10:31 am

    Scott,

I think you are missing a 6 story building catty-corner from the cemetery…. that building is the Golden Hill Resort and where we will be. See riding directions from Sturgis below.

If you take Highway 14 South from Sturgis into Deadwood and stay on Highway 14 through town, do not turn to take the “loop”, 14 will take you into Central City and then directly into Lead (3 miles from Deadwood). As you come up the hill into Lead there will be shopping center on the right and a 6 story building on left, that is the Golden Hills Resort and the home of the Desperado Junction Expo, and directly in front of you will be the only stoplight in Lead.

    C. Jaye,

Thanks for the kind words …. Yes, t-shirts will be available in fact we have a Free T-Shirt day scheduled on Friday August 13th, however, I am sure I can fix you up with a shirt any time during the event if you stop by.

    Wiz,

Give me a call at 281-259-0550 and I will fix you up with a spot!

    Quint,

Same for you brother, call me and I will secure you a spot.

FYI: We are scheduling some of the industry heavyweights to appear at the Desperado trailer for an hour a day, Monday –Friday during the main week of the event. Everyone will be available to sign autographs and take some photos with you. My friend Cyril Huze has very graciously agreed to appear on Thursday August 11 at 2:30PM … I know you won’t want to miss that!

    Over & Out,

    Jeff

    Congratulations Jeff. Great idea…great location.
Saw you there as we were riding through the canyon and thought that was a hell of location to get some exposure vs. the over saturated Lazelle.

Hope this works out well for all invited!

My group from WI will be staying up in the ski area, so we will be through Lead quite a bit. I sent this link to everybody in my group and they are stoked that we have a place close by to party.

Jeff, thanks for the opportunity and we look forward to meeting you!

Brilliant idea, Jeff. I hope this is a start to a whole new Sturgis experience. For far too long there has been a shameless gouging in and around Sturgis that has sickened me. Most of the people that go there now go just because they think it is the cool “biker” thing to do. Most of them are just idiots. Though there is a younger crowd that is starting to go back to the roots of what it used to be. I wish you all the best and I hope this thing goes through the roof.

  18. 18 Wiz Feb 2nd, 2011 at 8:37 am

Should be one HELLOFA good time! I’ll send the paperwork down to ya today iffin’ I can get to the mailbox in this blizzard we’re expierencing up here right now. Sturgis seems like a long way away but it’ll be here before we know it. Anybody travelin’ through the Sioux Falls area are welcome to stop by my free bed ‘n breakfast, relax a little bit, wrench on yer scooter, ‘an general bullshit with me on yer way to the world’s biggest gathering of us on the planet! Ya’all got a friend in South Dakota. Contact me @ 605-359-2876. Wiz
