Sturgis Road Show In Harrisburg, PA (Part 1)

In August, bikers take the road to Sturgis, SD for the world’s largest rally. This year, for the 1st time ever, the Sturgis Rally takes the road to Pennsylvania for the 1st Sturgis Road Show in Harrisburg. A new concept that surprised many but justified by the organizers by the fact that for many bikers have cabin fever (or throttle fever) after a long winter and would like to live and enjoy the Sturgis atmosphere well before the summer Black Hills Rally gets started. But why Pennsylvania? Because this State has the fourth-highest recorded motorcycle registration in the United States, close to 330,000.

This Sturgis Road Show weekend held in and around the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA just got started yesterday and I hear that a good crowd is already present to enjoy the festivities, Sturgis style. Yes, there is a Main Street, downtown restaurants and bar scene were already packed yesterday evening and as you can see on these pictures, custom builders are in town, competitors of the CCI International Bike Show are all setup dreaming of a trophyand of course a big contingent of girls and multiple bands are ready to entertain bikers…If you go: through Sunday at the Farm Show Complex, 2300 N. Cameron Steet, Harrisburg. $22 Saturday; $10 Sunday. Info at Sturgis Road Show. (photography Horst Roesler)

Why is it, that these companies in this industry like this, and IMS Motorcycle show, don’t understand that they should hold these events later in the season during nicer weather riding season.

Yah, it’s about 35 degrees and pouring rain. Sucks for anyone who wanted to ride there today.

That’s the point boys. I wouldn’t mind driving there today to see some bikes.

I applaud the promoters for doing these shows, especially in the Midwest and other areas where the weather is not so great during the winter and spring. As a kid from the Motor City, I lived for the annual Birch Run show and Autormama at Cobo Hall…got me pumped for the season.
