So what happened to the guy who rear ended him?

Always look in your rear view mirrors for F’N cage drivers behind you when coming to a stop.
Always have an escape route in mind.
As a rider you are invisible, and those who see you don’t care.

This happened on the Dallas North Tollway. The motorcycle rider is an Iraq veteran. The person who hit him had no license and no insurance and was only given a few traffic citations. I can’t believe he wasn’t arrested or his car impounded! (as the law in Texas says it should be!) This whole situation is just sad.

Looked like there should have been plenty of time to stop. How many think maybe a smart phone was involved?

Fiddling with a cell phone is one of my biggest concerns where cages are involved these days.

The guy in the car indeed was unlicensed and uninsured and only recieved 3 citations with no arrest. This is an outrage. I would have been put away wet if it was me.. How do people get away with this crap?!?! Was the driver even a legal citizen? The DA should pick up this case

The good news is that he proposed to his girlfriend and she accepted. They’re probably not going riding together though.
Imagine doing a tour in Iraq, only to come home and be killed by some asshat like that.

    That guy`s bloody lucky!

Looking in the mirrors when hitting the brakes on a motorcycle should be a reflex action. I usually brake a little less and try to use the spaces between the cars and road edges to escape from the possibility of a semi running me down.

In fact I will automatically make the choice of an illegal maneuver to avoid possible injury by random cage zombies.

Driving a motorcycle on the road is like being at war, It`s just a matter of time before you come face to face with someone who is trying to kill you.

Had nearly the same thing happen to me cupa years ago. Bastard had no license, no ins, not his car, lived with cousin, didn’t speak English–you get the picture. This is an epidemic ! Don’t believe me? Go sit in your local courtroom for 2 half days like I did. The register was ringin with fines . Makes u wonder.

Jana’s not going to be happy.
There’s no way this guys’ not getting another bike. Look at him roll his eyes there at the end. If he wasn’t getting another bike, he wouldn’t be wearing a Triumph T-shirt. He thinks he’s Bob Dylan.
He will be getting another scoot Jana, so you have to get over it. Next time, ride with him to makes sure he doo’s right.

1: I’d not get engaged to a woman who says, “as my first act, he is not getting another bike.” Do you see the look of “beat down” on his face?

2: The driver of that car should serve jail time. There was plenty of time for him to stop

3: He had no lane of escape. With traffic on his right and a retaining wall on his left, seeing the car come up behind him would have just given him a split second to realize how messed up he was about to get.

4: Loud pipes save lives. This is why I shake my head at those who complain about loud pipes. Had this guy had loud pipes, it would have increased the chance that the driver would have looked up from his phone to see traffic slowing down.

I utilize compression braking more than physical braking. With short straight pipes and no baffles, I rattle the windows of people behind me and set off car alarms in every parking lot. You might think I’m an idiot but I’ve never been hit from behind.

The price of being a Road Warrior is high, but it’s worth it! Wiz

The worst part is, the car that hit didn’t even seem to act like they knew they hit him. After impact it looks like they keep going.

Seriously. I know all of us have cars & phones & whatever, but it is time for all crap to be banned in cars. People don’t pay attention to begin with. Now we have to deal with them talking on phones, texting & even playing DVDS!!!!

It is time for tougher laws on hitting bikes. I get tired of the BS, “I couldn’t see him” excuse.
