The weekend rally in Hollister, CA the “Birthplace Of The American Biker”, has been canceled 2 years ago. But thanks in great part to Mike Corbin, bikers are still riding to Hollister to celebrate the Fourth Of July Weekend (Friday July 1 – Monday July 4, 2011.) Corbin is organizing its second annual open house with a rider appreciation day on Saturday featuring live music, great food, factory tours and an expanded vendor row with some of the greatest names in the motorcycle industry. Around Hollister, local businesses will also roll out the red carpet to welcome bikers to town with special events and activities through the weekend. It is recommended to register your participation in advance for this Independence weekend by going to Corbin Rally.

The hollister rally having to be taken over by a private enterprise shows why we are screwed by the gov’t here in CA. How Hollister managed to lose money having so many people come to visit is beyond me.
Luis , It was easy. First the goverment officials in hollister are stupid and very very corrupt..
Second It costs a lot of moiney to pay for swat teams and helicoptors to be around 24/7 for several days.
Third the officials in hollister are stupid and corrupt.
Fourth The officials in hollister do not care a damn about the local business making money.
Fifth the goverment officials in hollister are stupid and corrupt
Insane, Gilroy manages to have thousands of people come by to eat garlic every year and make a profit.
yes because they dont have the local goverment in on the garlic festival to take the money
also they dont have to have swat or have helicopters to fly around 24/7
Well..Mike is a hell of a guy and very benevolent to say the least.

Way to go Mike!
Kudos to Mike for turning his attention to this event and bringing it back to life!
He is a generous host and loves a good party!
Best of luck!
I 2nd what Pepper says! Raisin Pie and kudos to Mike!
Way to go, Mike. May this be one great day in Hollister this year!
Glad to see a private enterprise can hold their own event without interference from local gov. May your open house grow each year Mike!
Sure! Treat us like dirt, let your cops harass us, force the bikes to park on side streets, and do everything possible to drive us away. I’m coming anyway, so here, take my money! NOT!! I have better things to do, and better towns to do them in!
Let Podunk survive another year without biker money!
Here’s some uplifting info about the whole Hollister thing:
There is going to be fun had by those who want to have fun!!
The weekend has some low-key but high-quality activities and if you want to experience the flavor of Hollister – the renown Birthplace of the American Biker – then this is the weekend to do it. No hassles, no huge, huge crowds and no hoards of law enforcement people.
Word on the street is that a few thousand bikers are showing up for various parts of the Independence Weekend festivities which include a fantastic (FREE) Rider Appreciation day at the Corbin facility on Saturday, July 2nd, a big birthday bash for original Boozefighter Vern Autry at Johnny’s Bar & Grill on Friday night, and if that weren’t enough — the Top Hatter’s 64th poker run on Saturday morning and the VFW poker run on Sunday morning!
Plus there are a number of other things happening – races at Hollister Hills, a car show at Bolado Park, and untold others!
Check out great info about the weekend here at the Johnny’s Bar & Grill website: http://www.johnnysbarandgrill.com/events-runs-rides/independence-weekend/

So will there be doings in 2012? I would like to round up a group to come July 2012 from the Phoenix, AZ area. Any ‘official’ word.
Later,
Slow Poke
