Sturgis Buffalo Chip Week-Long 30th Anniversary Party

The party will rock hard from August 5-13 to celebrate 30 years…of Sturgis parties.

First, some of the most legendary acts will play the Chip: Stevie Nicks, Toby Keith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, STYX, Poison, Def Leppard, John Fogerty, Alice Cooper, Jeff Bridges and friends, Tesla, Pop Evil, Puddle of Mudd and many more.

On August 8th, the Annual Legends Ride with the Official Buffalo Chip Challenge Bike built by Western Dakota Tech students with the help of Mike Prugh leading the pack. The bike will be auctioned off later in the afternoon with proceeds from the bike sale and donations garnered from the Legends Ride go to local charities.

From August 9th to 15th, the 11th Annual Motorcycle as Art exhibition, “Slant Artist-An Eccentric View on Motorcycles and Art” will focus on avant-garde artist, Jeff Decker. Assembled by world-famous motorcycle photographer Michael Lichter. The exhibition captures the personal expression, creativity and spirit that permeate the history and culture of motorcycling. In addition to Decker’s ten beautiful bronze sculptures, there will be a large and eclectic display of motorcycles and wall art culled from his personal collection, friends and other artists filling the 7,000 square foot gallery. Decker will also be working on a new sculpture in the exhibit area.

August 10th, from 4 to 8pm, the First Annual Victory Bike Show. The winner will be awarded a trophy on the Wolfman Jack Stage during a set break between Lukas Nelson, Gregg Allman and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The Chip will also host a LED Bike Show and Parade with enthusiasts lighting up the night in a showcase of custom dynamics. And of course on August 11th, from 10 am to 5 pm. The Sturgis Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show, the granddaddy of all bike shows recognizing the best of the best custom builders bringing their amazing bikes for show, hoping to win one of the tall trophies. A show to inspire all builders with new creative ideas.
 
August 10, The Biker Belles festivities begin in the historic town of Deadwood at The Lodge of Deadwood followed by a beautiful, women’s-only ride to the Buffalo Chip for a reception on. Attending will be Laura Klock who will be selling raffle tickets for “SALT,” a special bike she built alongside the girls and young women of the Abbott House. Biker Belles was created to raise funds for Helping with Horsepower and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame.

August 7-11, amateur comedians and Buffalo Chip Swimsuit Models will take their place at the mic to tell the funniest jokes of bike week for a chance to win stellar prizes. Nightly winners will be uploaded to the Chip’s “Morning After Daily Funny Videos” so all their friends and family can check out their performances. Whoever gets the most likes or votes on YouTube will be The Grand Prize Winner.

All week. The Limpnickie Lot will be set up at the West Gate. There are sure to be lot’s of burnouts and mayhem when these up and coming builders get together. They will have a ride-in night time chopper show on Friday night August 12, followed by The Limpnickie Night in the main ampitheatre at the Chip that will feature Saving Abel, Puddle of Mudd and Tesla.

Klock Werks customized Victory Kingpin 8-Ball bike giveaway. Register to win the by filling out the contest form, or by registering at the Buffalo Chip Campground from August 5-10. One lucky winner will be chosen from a group of eight finalists, “live” on the Buffalo Chip’s main stage Friday, August 12. Fans can also register to win a host of other sponsor prizes to be given away the same night. 

The new Buffalo Chip Tattoo Cafe will present a group of hand-picked, world-class tattoo artists. The host tattoo shops are Asylum Tattoo out of Spearfish, SD and Trusted Tattoo of Corona, CA. More biker-centric fun and festivities are listed at Buffalo Chip Website.

    OK, not to belabor the obvious, but are there any musical acts from say the 1990’s or later? I know the Chip is a business and it is catering to the aging (yet affluent) biker, but does this mean we will be seeing the Lawrence Welk Revue in 2020?

    Seriously, Jeff Bridges is an older dude, but a new act. His Oscar win got others to take a look at his music

    As for Jeff Bridges I didn’t know the Dude Made music!
