Akrapovic Exhaust Systems. Remember This name.

Those not in motorcycle racing have never heard the name Akrapovic. A couple of months ago, I introduced you to this European company because its experience and high quality reputation with numerous teams in the Pro Superbike championship (Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati, Honda), is now associated with new exhaust systems specifically conceived for most Harley-Davidson Sportster, Softail, Dyna and Touring models. After conquering many markets around the world, Akrapovic (means Scorpion, surname of company’s founder and former racer Igor Akrapovic)) has began a US operation this summer in Irvine, California and intends to use its 21-year old well known reputation for perfectionism to conquer a big share of the US V-Twin custom exhaust market.

Akrapovic promises original designs, high end stainless steel and carbon fiber materials, better bends and welds and of course enhanced performance of more power, torque and throttle response throughout the entire rpm range … and a unique European soundtrack. As an example, featured here is the Akropovic System with muffler insert for the Harley-Davidson Road King Classic. All Akrapovič Open Systems include header, silencer and heatshield with optional noise reduction insert also available. To check on improved performance Dynojet mappings are available for all products. After you make the jump, see the one of this exhaust on the Road King Classic .

Stainless, brand new design. Pretty cool exhaust.

This brand is very famous in Europe with a pristine reputation. Some American exhaust manufacturers asleep at the switch are going shake their heads pretty soon.

Bad ass exhaust Company. I’ve used there products for years. IMOP probably the nicest exhaust systems on the market, and most expensive. There is a You-Tube video of there manufacturing plant that gives you an example of the precision of this business. Really nice parts, two thumbs up !

@ hk, not cheap. Suggested retails start at $750.

  9. 9 Woody Nov 8th, 2011 at 12:06 pm

$750, hmm, still cheaper than some Chinese-made Harley jackets. Very impressive numbers, looking forward to seeing & hearing some bike with them.

  10. 10 XH-D Rider Nov 8th, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Hope they don’t over look the victory bikes.
We are all ready for a change in exhaust

The workmanship on these exhausts are second to none; I saw one for the first time on a tupperware bike years ago (his words, not mine/lol…) and it was bad-a$$. I hope they succeed in this line of exhaust systems, cause the ones they make for off-road/MX/Sportbikes are bitchen and these look bad-a$$ as well…

It seems that woody (see above) always wants to alert us to that evil Motor Company selling stuff that’s made in China. Above he states “$750, hmm, still cheaper than some Chinese-made Harley jackets”. Being he’s talking about a jacket with a price of “above $750., I believe he must be refering to the jacket described in an earlier posting titled “New Harley-Davidson Military Inspired Collection”. It appears woody thinks it’s patriotic duty to keep us all informed regarding Harleys sourcing practices and is just doing his patriotic duty. That would be great except he is wrong about this jacket and other Harley merchadise. Cyrils blog clearly states the jacket is made In America. It has some imported material but is MADE IN AMERICA.

This system is made in Slovenia – small – country where also NASA rewarded electric airplane was made. Small country with 2 million inhabitants. And yes, Akrapovic sysemms are the best

  15. 15 rob Nov 8th, 2011 at 6:57 pm

Kosovo and Slovenia, don’t go there ’cause they’ll be mean to ya.

Akrapovic makes some of the finest exhaust systems in the sportbike market and it is refreshing to see a company like this entering the vtwin market. I am really interested in learning more. To those who think 750 is high, try buying a sportbikee system….. you will spend upwards of a grand or more for a good high quality system. This is fair for the quality you are getting.

Now…. where is Yoshimura, Termignoni, Arrow and Staintune. Hello…. your new market is calling 🙂

  18. 18 Mark Nov 8th, 2011 at 10:04 pm

Uhhh, those not in the sportbike market won’t have heard of Akrapovic?

That’s like saying those who don’t race won’t have heard of Ducati.

It’s cool they are making Harley exhausts, but let’s not overstate the gravity of this announcement. Akrapovic is one of the biggest exhaust companies. I doubt many in the bike industry *haven’t* heard of them.

    X2 ! 🙂

Termignoni system,……. that would be $1500-$3000 for a Harley!!!! LOL But, so-so-so sweet !

$750 is a lot cheaper than most single outlet bagger pipes .yaffe is $1250 and guarenteed no where near the R&D akro puts into thier pipes.

  21. 21 Sportster Mike Nov 9th, 2011 at 2:58 am

Saw one fitted to a Sportster at Southampton HD (the one one the south coast of England)
Ear splittingly loud and that was with the baffle in!!
    but still a nice design

PS Slovenia is a lovely place – scenery like Austria, hills etc

  22. 22 Brandon Nov 9th, 2011 at 7:05 am

Mark. Make a test. Ask HOG guys if they heard the Akrapovic.name before. No…

  23. 23 Calif Phil Nov 9th, 2011 at 8:13 am

I just looked at a sample muffler for an HD touring bike and was impressed. I am not sure if I can sell $1100 slip on’s though.

These are great looking pipes. Saw them at the LeMans NVP. Quality and build is fantastic.

  25. 25 brumby Nov 9th, 2011 at 3:13 pm

We have fitted one to our 113 cube FLHR project bike. Looks good in black, pretty distinctive. I’ll update with a dyno readout next week.

  26. 26 bigwoody Nov 16th, 2011 at 4:42 pm
