In advance of the 2-day TV event (Episode “Chopper Finale” December 5 at 9 pm when the 3 customs will be revealed, Episode “Chopper Live” December 6 at 9 pm to vote and see the winner), the Discovery Channel wants to know who SHOULD win this 3-way build-off.
My opinion, and yours that I know via your former comments, is that Jesse James WILL and SHOULD win. But it’s only the opinion of the true custom motorcycle industry, individuals and professionals reading me, but not necessarily the opinion of the TV public at large, not necessarily bikers, addicted during years to the duels between Paul Jr. and Paul Sr. Want a proof of what I just wrote?
The Discovery Channel, right now, let you vote on their website by a simple click on “who you would like to win”, and shows you at the same time the current result of this on-going poll. Most are voting against Jesse because they think he is a scab for cheating on Sandra. He may be , but that ain’t what it’s about it’s about building a cool chopper.
The typical “Smerican Choppers” fan knows little if anything about bikes. Even less about actually building one. The bike from Jesse’s team will be way over the head of the typical OCC/PJD fan’s head.
OCC/PJD will build something that can be ridden on and off a trailer and around a parking lot. Jesse will build a bike that you can actually ride.
We know it’s only a show for audience & money. Still, we would like the Teutuls to go away.
I can’t believe Jesse despite his flaws, and need for cash would lower himself to do this. Have you ever looked closely at Jr & Sr bikes. Oh well, art is in the eyes of the beholder, and someone needs glasses.

We’ve moved on to bikes you can actually use, like dual-purpose, adventure tourers. flat track throwbacks, cafe racers, classics/vintage, great standards and baggers. Get with it, you guys — choppers are so, so 20th century!

I would hope that some day that they will do a show to teach people in detail how to work on their own motorcycles. A Tech Article on TV one that goes into all the details like torque specifications, special tools, etc.

For anyone to say the Teutels are not builders or artist in the bike building industry, has tunnel vision, a shallow outlook on the industry. They knew to stay alive in the industry, they had to be versitile. They’ve built from one end of the spectrum to the other in the chopper and custom bike industry, from building old skool choppers, street bobbers, long bikes, trikes, theme bikes and even a speed record breaking electric bike. The Teutels bike building is like the fashion industry, sure there’s some gaudy bikes, but there is something on one or more of their scooters that appeals to a builder that they might incorporate it on one of their bikes.

Who Cares…………When Junior & Senior visited “DOWNUNDER” they lost nearly all there fans and/or respect due to there ego’s & attitude……..BUT as for the BIKES on DISPLAY the did look like they were thrown together in little time ( rough as guts with no attention to detail ) compared to The Master Jessie, where I could fall into the detail and craftsmanship of his builds I viewed in Long Beach a while Ago. Maybe a NEW series with Billy Lane v Jessie since Indian Larry is no longer available.

If you really want to know who the better builder is ? Have a completely in secret bike build. Give each contestant 30 days to build and have an INDEPENDENT ship and set up the displays. Have NO indications in the displays of WHO built what bike.After ALL the popular votes are in and counted and the winner announced( by means of( THE RED BIKE WON< OR THE YELLOW BANANA BIKE WON) then have the builders show up and stand by their bikes.
This way there would be almost 0 favoritism because the PEOPLE would be voteing by what the SEE and NOT by who they like!!!

These shows are mainly based for popularity so the companies ( tv channels) can make money off of advertising. Everybody who actually builds stuff knows this. These shows are also aimed at the same forum trolls that bash other people’s builds, yet will never get off their asses and build something themselves. This is why America is falling behind, because people would rather sit and nitpick than get up and do something…But I am behind Jesse 100%

Jason Pool is the one who design’s them now on his comp. Atleast when Jr was there he told pool how to draw it and how he wanted it to look like.And put his own inventive idea’s into the bikes.

I’ll even confess to not being a particular fan of any of them, but IMHO, Jr. is the most creative, Jesse is the more skilled craftsman, and although I think Sr. is an a$$, he is the better businessman.

I enjoyed watching Jesse back in the day of monster garage and I enjoy watching American chopper. Both shows entertained me. To me the term build is thrown around way to loosely!! What folks fail to understand is building and assembling aren’t the same. Taking a long list of manufacturers parts and putting them together modifying as needed to fit is assembly. Building is designing ,fabricating ,and working out geometry of the design. Out of these guys Mr James built his own. I believe SR knows bike geometry but I haven’t seen it showcased. The only person that I feel could actually build a complete bike start to finish is Mr James. The best builder should win a bike build off. Now if you wanna add a peoples choice then fine by me but call it that! If it quacks like a duck looks like a duck and walks like a duck its not a mongoose…. just saying! These shows are ratings driven and advertisement dollar motivated. Its about selling us all TV time and guess what its working lol. Just wish people would rally discovery to do some real build offs where people in the business could go from tubing and sheet metal to ridable bike type of build offs. I have met Jeese a couple times. Once in his shop and ran into him at a 7-11. He wasent rude he was cool and laid back and didnt seem to come of like an asshole. But I’m seeing these discovery build of and he acts like a complete doochbag.. His style of bike building is so different to the OCC and PJD guys. Why he wants to come out of the tumble weeds in Texas and do a biker build of with these company’s I dont know. Sorry, I don’t even know who Cyril is. I stumbled on this through the Bloomberg article on investing in Choppers. What most of you do not seem to comprehend is that this “build off” is nothing more than entertainment. The most relevant comparison would be to WWE wrestling. These guys are all making BIG money, and having fun doing what they love. Anyone posting here should be so lucky. No matter what they build, guaranteed it will be better than what 99% of you are riding.
I watch these shows and respect the builders but I prefer to support My local builders. Like the ones in My hometown the Big B Baltimore like Mobtown,Kundratics Kustom,White Boy Choppers,and Charm City Choppers! Check Them Out!

I think all three have paid their dues in the industry. What I think everyone needs to remember is that it’s all business. As popular as each are in their respective circles, they all influence sales and style in a part of the big money pizza pie. Each builder will attract a multitude of personalities that in some way mirrors what they see as something they could be or aspire to be like. Or it just comes down to product, yea the theme bikes are getting a little old but that’s what puts food on the table and keeps the business going. I’m sure we would all build a dream bike if we had the skills to do so. One turn off for anyone is someone to say I’m the best and contradict themselves by saying I don’t need a pat on the back to know it’s cool. If you’re building for yourself, then yea who cares. If you’re building for a customer that wants a product and you don’t deliver, good luck getting another build. Best of luck to all three

I have read a lot about this “build off ” and Its VERY obvious that on the actual BIKE forums, that Jesse is by FAR the favorite, HOWEVER, this will be a popularity contest and the majority of the people voting on this thing will be American Chopper fans. That being said, the MAJORITY of the American Chopper fans wouldnt know fabrication or bad a** chopper from Kitchen appliance. The majority of those fans hate SR so he has NO chance, and the rest only know Jesse by name and arent aware of the skills he actually has. I have seen th pics of all the bikes, and OCC WTF? Its supposed to be a motorcycle!! JR? As usual because he isnt a bike guy, doesnt ride, and is, and has always been an ASSEMBLER. The bike he built has to have a “theme” The exhaust comes out of the sides of the tank! Id like to see him ride that thing 600 miles to a bike rally!! A, it would probably fly apart before they get out of Montgomery, B. the only thing they actually fabricated was the tank. Jesse built the whole thing from scratch, Jr doesnt have the skill or know how to bulid a frame or front end from scratch. Wow! I can’t believe how many people are looking through rose colored glasses. Jesse James is an amazing welder but nothing more. He doesn’t have the same design sense that Jr has, and if you compare there bikes you will see that. Jr has created and designed the most unique and innovative bike designs the world has seen thus far. I’ve seen Jesse James bikes and there is nothing innovative and new about his designs. It looks like every other bike out there that has been made. This contest is about the best overall between design, and build and the Teutuls are both, Jesse is nothing more than a glorified welder.

Paul Jr. is changing the motorcycle industry! His heart and soul is in what he does. The guys that work for him can see that! Jesse build something that we haven’t seen before? So I just saw basically what Jesse James is building and it’s a nice bike, but it’s too similar to anything out there. It’s nothing new I’m sure the bike was built well, but like I said before he has no design sense. His bikes are boring we’ve been looking at those kind of designs for the past decade, can’t he do something different? This is why he isn’t doing as well as Jr customer want to see something new, something that will catch your eye. That’s what happens when you have welder try to design he’s in over his head if you ask me. Jesse needs to focus more on his design sense. If he even spent half as much time as he spends complaining and ripping on everyone else he might be able to accomplish this. I don’t like the man I think he is one of the most narcissistic and disrespectful people around, and that will eventually catch up to him and bite him in the ass. Go Paul Jr!
my thinking is what can be road, and safe. paul sr. no way. Jessie James no way if you watch him ride he has to look one side to the other can’t see over the gas tank not safe. paul jr. yes can be riden even if not but just for show at least it is safer and the smoke done right is safe. science. is a wonderful thing.

I would Love to see PJD win! I know that Jessie is on of the great’s but to make fun of Paul JR like a child shows the Jessie is so full of him self an his comments are truely immature.. Paul Sr should not even say who he thinks should win like that against his own son no matter what family problems there are he does not deserve to have a son so great.. If anything Paul JR has been the only mature one with how he speaks of everyone else in the build off..SR an Jessie SHOULD HEAR YOR SELVES GROW UP… PDJ your bike is beautiful, there are no words for how great u guys are God bless we wish u the best of luck..After tonights show an seeing all the bike PDJ your bike is the winner becaus you raised the bar again…SR your bike does not make sense,..Jessie i understand u did all the work by hand on yours but it is plain an just a regular Chopper seen it before nothing special….
