It was expected that with the launch of the Sportster Seventy-Two, Harley-Davidson would release a bunch of new XL custom parts to “help” owners go in the 70’s mood and attitude. Among them, 2 of the most “stereotyped” parts of this era are a metal flake seat and a single-sided swing arm bag.
The Solo Seat features a brilliant high-gloss metal flake vinyl seating surface that is finished in the classic diamond checked upholstery pattern. Fits ’04-’06 XL, ’10-later XL models with 2.2 or 3.3 gallon fuel tank. Seat width 10″. Silver charcoal.
The Single-Sided Bag has room for the basic essentials. Constructed of heavyweight leather, and featuring a pouch-style flap lid that is secured with two quick-disconnect clips that are hidden behind traditional straps and buckles. The semi-rigid-backed bag is secured to the left side of the bike with easy-to-install brackets and adjustable straps. Luggage capacity: 430 cubic inches total. Fits ’04-later XL models equipped with solo seats. Requires removal of passenger pegs. At your Harley-Davidson dealer.
I’d rock the bag since it has snaps and not actual working belt buckles.
That seat was fugly in 1970, and is fugly now…can’t remember seeing one on a bike, ever…just in the free piles at swap meets…and in dumpsters when nobody would take ’em.
Looks like a really bad reupholster job on a mid Sixties Troxel bicycle seat. FAIL.
