Rick Fairless office at Strokers Dallas is not what you thought. It’s much more Rick Fairless that you imagined…
In cardboard, Rick is always present at the office even when he is far away on the show tour flashing his bikes paint jobs and tie dye tees. During a visit you will talk to him seated on one of the two chairs coming (ripped off?) from the Dallas Cowboys stadium. If your telephone conversation is boring he will start his in-office old Triumph, pretend he is testing a bike on the lift, can’t hear you and will hang up.
On the walls, shelves with a lot of empty (!) collectible bottles and Harley beer cans, posters of John Lennon, Frank Zappa, Marilyn Monroe and of Bettie Page The Queen Of Hearts. No explanation given to me about the pairs of old and wild Converse shoes waiting to be burned on exhaust pipes. Many old motorcycle tags, framed magazine bike features and a sign stating “Hippies Use Backdoor. No exceptions.” But who is the hippie in the house?
Weird. Like me.
Hey Cyril, A side note about that Triumph; My Dad’s best friend bought that Triumph new in 1961 & was killed on it in 1964 while coming to our house for supper. My Dad gave it to me 30 years ago & it starts on the first kick & runs great. That bike means more to me & my family than any of my much more expensive custom choppers! I keep that Triumph in my office to remind me of who I am & where I come from.
Thanks Cyril.

Always cool to get a glimpse inside the personal space of some of the legends in our industry. Thanks Rick for the back story on the Triumph, and thanks to Cyril for the story on Ricks’ decor. I enjoyed both immensely.

Loves this series. Very entertaining. Who’s next?
I would not have imagined Fairless loving football. The rest, no real surprise.
It is hard to see all 3 sides of the Triumph, however there is not much damage. The seating is turned the wrong way to watch the Flat Screen, other than that, it is very similar to my College Dorm Room in my Freshman Year.
Cool guy and an office to match!
I have been in that office plenty of times getting my butt chewed about some paint. It’s like a museum in there.
Love this guy!
Cool ….we all need our space……
Visited Strokers last May and got to see Rick’s office and all the back rooms!! Loved every minute, and really enjoyed meeting Rick and his crew!! Some of the nicest folks you could imagine!! Thanks for the tour!
Jason,
When you grow up in Texas, you HAVE to love football. Particularly the Cowboys and Tom Landry. Our state school system has a mandatory “Cowboy History” class that all school age kids have to take. LOL.
How the Hell do you get any work done with all that mess?
been in Rick’s office…it is as cool as he is….
Growing up Texan (Dallas, Texas to be exact) I can share this info with you “out of staters”: In Texas the three main days of the week are: Friday Night we have High School Football (Ever heard of the movie “Friday Night Lights”?) Saturday is College Game Day/Night and on Sunday Da Boyz Play (as well as the Texans now that I live in Houston). All the other days of the week are simply filler days working up to the weekend!
One more thing: Ya better smile boy when you say the name Tom Landry!
Over & Out,
Jeff
Rick that Triumph in it’s day ran circle’s round the rest. but for your office pretty cool.
The hat and coat just don’t look right on you Rick :-}
After editing Rick’s Dealernews column for years — and his Big Twin Dealer column before that — and seeing how his mind works these pics of his office are no surprise.
Strokers has to be the best bike shop I’ve ever been to!
Ah yes, a T120R, the small-block of motorcycling.
With a tooth down on the engine sprocket you could smoke the tire and pull a wheely at the same time.
What a great looking scooter that is.
Every office should have one………. 🙂
