Another very nice XR 1200 Sportster from the boys at Shaw Speed & Custom, the custom department of Shaw Harley-Davidson Of Brigthon, UK. All their heavily modified Harley Sportsters are so cool that each could be part of a high end CVO line offered by the Milwaukee factory. The quality and originality of their custom Harley production is even more remarkable due to the fact that being an official Harley dealer, they always use as many genuine Harley-Davidson accessories as possible. A few after-market parts from independent vendors (Roland Sands is one of their favorite) are then added for the final touch.
This XRCR was built for a UK Celebrity. The guy wanted a motorcycle to scratch around the London city streets and at weekends get out on the open road to have a blast. His passion for old classic racers, including the Cafe era was enough to give the Shaw Speed & custom team enough of a brief to build him this machine. The donor was a 2010 XR1200, already a race bike when Harley-Davidson promoted the XR1200 Cup off the back of the British Super Bike series.
It was already tuned to the 100hp level, with the race download, and had been set up on a rolling road. Forks and rear suspension were race tuned with Ohlins internals and race shocks, and the wheels were PVM Race wheels with fully floating rotors and wrapped with Dunlop D211 tires. The Team of the Sussex based UK Harley-Davidson Dealership set about giving the XR the Cafe Racer treatment with a new sharp back end fabricated in-house. The original race belly pan was modified to house the oil cooler. The handlebars were dropped with the clip-ons from Lightec. Exhaust system is made from Termignoni headers and a Tyger maggot rear muffler added to the classic feel.
Kellerman indicators with built-in stop tail lights kept the bike looking clean. A Yamaha MT03 Headlight contributes to giving the bike its own unique visual identity. The warning lights were machined into the top yoke with the speedo to preserve the clean and smooth look of the bike. Lcense plate holder is side-mounted.
A Renthal chain and sprocket conversion was fitted with the complimentary skateboard chain guide to keep things in line. Lotus inspired paint finished the detailing of the bike with the number 13 added for good luck… Shaw Speed And Custom at Shaw Harley-Davidson UK.

The best/most interesting custom bikes appear every monday morning in Cyril’s website.
Really great looking bike, well thought out, looks like a production race bike!

Niiiiiiiiice. I want I want I want.
Very nice!
I have motoboner for this bike, so nice.
Wow, that’s what will bring back the Younger Crowd to become HD Patriots. This is what HD should have done with keeping Eric Buell. He did this 12 years ago with the S3 Thunderbolts.
Great looking ride!
That’s no piglet!! peace
very very nice
This execution further lends itself that HD’s is finally paying attention to the market. The “platform” product line is coming alive in this paradigm:
XR’s with Euro performance parts, Dyna’s that play well with monster motor parts, Sportys with hot rod bits and the continued attempt to refine the Baggers.
Not sure about the V-Rod or Softail lineup, maybe they’ve run their course?
Very nice, one glance and you start thinking what bike to get rid of to make room for it in the garage…
Money can’t buy me love but it sure can buy some very nice bikes!
It would be interesting what the price tag for this type of machine would cost if H-D built it and sold it through its dealer network?
Maybe HD could offer a line of H-D branded kits which would allow owners or dealers to convert thier sportster line ups to look and ride like this bike.
Nice sporty, would likke to know more about his engine. You can buy new, ‘off the shelf’, aftermarket H-D big twin engines but not the 1200…anyone know why that is?
I like the S&S Sportster engine but its at least $10,000!
