Bomb Runner Harley Sportster. Custom Built In Taiwan.

The custom motorcycle scene is one world. After Europe, Australia and Japan, the four Asian Tigers –  Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan – are showing strong interest in custom motorcycles. A couple of local custom builders, at least one magazine to showcase their work, the influence of a neighbor country, in this case Japan, provider of ideas and of great motorcycle parts, are enough to make a country get momentum in the race for building the best riding custom bikes.

Taiwan, 110 mles off the southeastern coast of mainland China, has a dynamic, capitalist, export-driven advanced technology economy. Winston Yeh is one of many among this country’s young generation with a passion for industrial design and product development, playing with graphics to redefine existing products. And since Winston is digging cars and bikes, he became a custom builder under the banner of Rough Crafts Taiwan.

The Bomb Runner featured here is a good example of the type of bikes Asian custom builders love to create. Very often an aggressive stance, a leaning forward riding position, high rear shocks tail section, a dropped down tank, fat tire front wheel matching the rear one and almost always a very short front end.  Check his other creations and watch out for this style being more and more omnipresent on the international custom scene during the next couple of years. Rough Crafts.

Very cool, love everything about it except the “truck” tire on the front. Their market is happening!

Another very cool one demonstrating that America is no more the epicenter of the custom motorcycle scene.

There is something about those old Firestone tube tires that I did. I like the plentiful sidewall.

SE Asia is also very well represented in the custom scene.

Probably light years ahead of Taiwan – much more latitude from gov’t interference.

I have many photos from many years of travel to bike shows, ralleys, etc.

“Looks Good” but it’s form over function. Loads of additional, unnecessary unsprung weight but it does provide the cool visual.

I like the way it looks,The big tires and the black paint makes this bike look ominous.
