Vintage Rally At The National Motorcycle Museum June 8-9, 2013

vintageanamosaOn June 8 and June 9 in Anamosa, Iowa, the National Motorcycle Museum’s annual event will be showcasing new exhibits, motorcycling heroes, a great swap meet, two bike shows and a vintage ride. While the Museum in its new location holds over 400 great motorcycles from Ariel to Zundapp and thousands of great pieces of art and memorabilia, the bike shows at the third annual Vintage Rally weekend bring to you even more fine machines for review. 
 
Be part of the dedication of the new Allstate Motorcycle Dirt Track Heroes exhibit and take in over 20 great Grand National Championship dirt track racers plus steel shoes, helmets, leathers, photos, posters and vintage dirt track film footage. Scooters from around the world will be featured in the new SCOOTERS! exhibit along with related artwork. You’ll also be able to check out new additions to the National Motorcycle Museum’s international collection of motorcycles which is always changing and expanding. 
    
nmmlogoDirt track racers, tuners and other Hall of Fame inductees like Bobby Hill, John Tibben, Dick Klamfoth, Mike Wilson and Bill Tuman will be on hand, enthusiastic to sign autographs and tell you their interesting stories. Listen to characters from racing’s past, racers, tuners and collectors during the entertaining and informative panel discussion. Evel Knievel’s bike painter, George Sedlak will talk about his Wrecking Crew painting and his experiences with Evel Knievel. Dirt track racing artist Melva Murphy will be on hand to talk about her colorful pro racing paintings from the 70’s.  Meet and talk with author and two-time Cannonball Endurance rider Cris Simmons. 
 
Saturday Bike Show judging will result in nearly 40 awards for owners of the best machines, including best original unrestored bikes for the Preservation Award. Enter your vintage bike, street, competition, custom, even mini, 1988 or earlier in the bike show; Dirt Track Racers and Scooters will be featured. Bike show awards are sponsored by Motorcycle Classics magazine. Got a nice cafe racer? The Ace Cafe, London will sponsor the special ACE Cafe Racer Award during the bike show.
   
Walk the swap meet and pick up parts for your projects or add to your memorabilia collection. Or reserve your own swap meet space if you need to trim your collection.  And you can sign up for the Sunday morning vintage motorcycle ride and lunch hosted by Motorcycle Classics magazine.

The National Motorcycle Museum is open seven days a week, year around. Museum members are admitted free. Becoming a member is quick and easy. Admission is only $8.00 except during special events. Children 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

    Why can’t motorcycles look like that today. Style meant something back then. The thin profile aluminum primary, the contoured exhaust….. wow. The loss. Looks like it’s from another world… and another dollar and a half just to see it…. 🙂
