New Adjustable Touring Rack From Harley-Davidson. 50% More Rack Surface When Needed.

Adjustable-Rack1Adjustable-Rack2Adjustable-Rack3The new Adjustable Two-Up Luggage Rack (P/N 50300044 Chrome, P/N 50300076 Gloss Black; $399.95) from Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Accessories® features telescoping side extensions that expand the width of the rack from 12.75 inches to 18.75 inches.

To accommodate a wide soft bag or duffle, press the buttons and slide out the side extensions to increase the usable surface area by 50 percent. When an oversize rack is not required slide the extensions back in for a clean look.

The rack has a load capacity of 30 pounds, and the side rails feature convenient mounting points for bag tie-down straps and bungee cords. The detachable rack can be completely removed from the bike in seconds. Add the internally-wired LED Light Kit, which is sold separately, (P/N 68065-10 Smoke lens or 68219-10 Red lens; $54.95 and sold separately) for enhanced visibility from the rear.

This rack fits many 2009-later Touring models equipped with a 4-Point Docking Hardware Kit, but installation may require other accessories. See an authorized Harley-Davidson dealer for fitment details. Harley-Davidson.

That’s pretty slick! Harley, is this part made in the USA ? Why not?

Looks good, one of those things that makes me think “Why didn’t I think of that?”

Cyril, find out which human invented that rack and let’s give him or her credit!

whats next a “expandable sissy bar” so when you pack on all that extra luggage there will be a place for the bungies to attach too with out being over stretched.

it could also work in case your fat bottom girl wants to ride

Excellent idea for Road Kings, Street and Road Glides
Wish they had a metric application?

We did something similar to this in the 70s….(but not as nice looking)

Tabs with holes welded onto existing rear racks – a 2 foot long coachbolt pushed through with 2 nuts holding it on.. do it twice sticking, out sideways and you can now carry your heavy tent without it dropping down onto the exhaust.. simples!!!

    I joined bit late, but..,

    – Cool idea – for a change not a direct crib from some other aftermarket co.

    – The ‘Made in China’ BS is treason of the highest order – if I buy authentic Harley then I expect MADE IN THE USA – it is the HD ethos…

    – The slide rail idea/thingy will not last – notably if used often and as things go it will almost always be loaded to the max; and over the 1st pothole the stalks will bend – then it is essentially stuffed (become sticky to operate, the slide ‘bearings’ will wear quickly, etc)..

    – I would suggest that they rather make a collapsible rack – iow one that fold open two half sections, pivoting on hinges, the kind of thing that will last a bike life-time (ie an investment – as HD is meant to be).

PS: perhaps Roland Sands will read the last paragraph above – he can make his own line of fold-open carriers with a nice biiiiiiiig logo in the middle. I only expect a meager royalty – a large Domino Jacket – Smoke; I do not feel like paying that much for something with crappy zips and I want something that will show blood and beer stains vividly – much more street cred than any patch…
