Driving Like An Idiot To Pass A Group Of Bikers

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. March 30, 2013. A woman driving a Volvo is getting very impatient behind a a large group of bikers. So, she decides to pass them using the right soft grass shoulder, finding out that a Volvo is not an off-road vehicle. Crashing her car, she almost took out several bikers. But it would have been nice for these bikers to open the left lane for her. Watch…

Heh heh heh, I like how they “waved” at her as they rode on.

See a bunch of idiots on bikes who don’t know how to ride + idiot in a Volvo who doesn’t know how to bump draft = lucky no one got hurt this time. SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT and no one gets hurt. Squibs who mess with the bull eventually will get the horns, then I will ride by and give him the single finger wave.

  3. 3 Tomcat Apr 9th, 2013 at 8:30 am

Life just taught that woman a lesson—-If she is smart enough to realize it. Glad no bikers got hurt!

Lady in the Volvo .. obvious Idiot…

Two lanes full of Sport Bikes hogging the road….. idiots..

idiots in a car! + idiots on bikes blocking both lanes + they don’t propperly teach riders and drivers how to properly behave and share the road= motorcycles are really dangerous and all bikers a a&*#!!%oless!

i dont understand the pack mentality , it seems when you get motorcycle riders of all types, harley, crotch rocket, dual sport, etc, when you get too many of them together they all forget how to ride. I live in a small town, and the Bikers in this area are generally very respectful of others on the road, personally i love it when you see 100 bikes staggered like they should be in this state. impressive.

IF the group was running the speed limit, fine. Volvo driver is definitely a idiot. BUT that would have to be THE slowest group of sport bikers I have ever seen!! peace

  8. 8 Jack Apr 9th, 2013 at 11:43 am

Its not a coincidence that this was a group of sport bikers…

Hard to say what the whole story is from this short snippet of video, and I’m sure it’s just a freak stroke of luck that this was being videoed in the first place, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I rode with the pack always when I was younger… When a new guy joined, he was schooled… Our rides were pure precision, art, a pleasure… sure we ripped thru traffic, but we gave citizens their respect..
Then being a “biker” became popular, exploded overnight. No ones fault, but now we have the blind leading the blind.
I ride alone a lot anymore… except sometimes with a couple of my old friends. You know, the ones you could tie a string between your handlebars and it would never break… Dave

    p.s. Idiot Volvo

Looks like Florida! Land of the optional Stop Sign and endangered bikers. But I do agree the way these guys were riding helped prompt the cage driver’s actions.

  13. 13 TheFunkyMonkey Apr 9th, 2013 at 9:07 pm

I tend not to wish harm on fellow bikers but there is an exception to every rule. This is one of those cases… If any of the bikers would have been harmed, they would have deserved it as they instigated that situation. I have no patience for this shit… I got caught behind a bunch of ghetto fucks on their stretched Hyabusa’s while trying to do the speed limit and they wouldn’t let me pass. I finally passed them on the shoulder while going by the local police academy and there just happened to be a cop sitting in the parking lot. They got pulled… Ride with respect and it makes everyone safer.

I’m sorry if I offend, but a blocked highway full of (typical, for some reason) inconsiderate idiot squids is worse than… well it’s worse than worse. It sucks. I mean, really, what’s the — ok, so do squids suddenly lose contact with their collective brains once they mount their Super Bikes? WTF??

I just don’t get the dumbarsed sense of free-license to act a damned fool on the public roadways that these typical sport bike folks, as a whole, seem to think comes with purchasing a sport bike.

    But that’s just me….

  16. 16 WickedWoman Apr 10th, 2013 at 6:53 am

Who doesn’t have a Go Pro these days? Everything is recorded. Looks like idiot bikers who can’t share a 2 lane highway and a dumb ass lady in her snobby Volvo getting aggravated. I bet that lady shit stained those seats.

  17. 17 Seven Apr 10th, 2013 at 7:17 am

Idiots on bikes! No formation, no courtesy! Let’s go ahead and block everything …just because we can.

  18. 18 Chris Apr 10th, 2013 at 9:56 am

It appears this ‘pack’ is another reason people have a disregard for motorcycles on the road. Either break your large group into smaller and easier to manage groups or everyone rides in the right lane leaving the left lane open for faster traffic. (As it should be. The left lane is called a passing lane for a reason.)

  19. 19 CafeSportyTC Apr 10th, 2013 at 10:04 am

Courtney i see the same B.S. from the jerks that show up during street Vibes… superbike or Harley, either one does not give you a license to ride like a dillhole.

  20. 20 Sid Apr 10th, 2013 at 10:41 am

Loads of generalized chatter on here…yes, there are a lot of squids who ride in too large of groups but same goes for cruiser riders. Break up the groups, all types.

HWY riding is boring as hell anyway

  22. 22 spaz Apr 10th, 2013 at 11:32 am

Y’know, there are so many stupid people on the road, period. If it were the other way around, you were the one biker trying to get around all the slow cagers who won’t get out of your way, they’d all point the finger at you for being reckless, and splitting lanes too fast, etc. Bottom line is we have collectively lost our minds as safe and courteous drivers in this country. The very simple rule that our parents followed religiously was: Slower traffic keep right. Always pass on the left. That was the best live-and-let-live cultural driving rule ever. And it has disappeared. Sad.

Hey geniuses (posting on this topic),
Before you judge this video you should do some research and you would know that this was a sanctioned, cop escorted ride where people weren’t suppose to be aloud pass these bikes as they were given a chance previously. I love how bikers (I would assume most here are) are so quick to slam your brethren for their “pack mentality” or “idiots on bikes” and “blocking both lanes”… This was an organized ride and organized rides block entire highways at times with police escort. Has nothing to do with the type of bike you ride. Cagers are the cause of the majority of car/bike accidents, there is no respect for motorcyclists (of any type) as they talk on their phones, surf the web on ipads, do makeup and read the paper while meandering and then recklessly passing a motorcycle that they feel is a nuisance. Anyone slamming the bikers in this video needs their head examined and should get back in your safe little cage and sell your motorcycle. Thanks for supporting the Pussifacation of the Nation!!!

  24. 24 Dave Apr 10th, 2013 at 4:34 pm

Notice too, how they immediately stopped to see if she was OK !

Most (if not all) Harley riders would first of all not riding like that and second, while they would have told her how stupid she was AFTER they made sure she was OK.

  25. 25 Smittydog Apr 10th, 2013 at 4:42 pm

She was in a hurry, late for a hair appointment. Ha-Ha

  26. 26 BobS Apr 10th, 2013 at 4:49 pm

How silly of me to not know this was a cop sanctioned and escorted ride. I guess that’s why there was a LEO with cherrys flashing in front of the group and another one chasing the Volvo. Oh wait, no there wasn’t. This is the first I’ve heard of cops sanctioning stupid riding too.

All of a sudden the ( cruiser ) biker is the good Samaritan. How funny.

The good guys who travel in packs and don’t yield for stop signs ( just one example ) for fear of losing the wolf pack and their tether.

Ask yourself what is the real reason one travels in large packs / groups other than for an organized event.

Trying my best to not be sarcastic.

Have I done questionable riding. Yes ! Will I do more, probably.

Not as a general rule or around others.

    RE:
“… This was an organized ride and organized rides block entire highways at times with police escort. ..”

If that’s true then the road captain should have his ass kicked.

    RE:
“…guys who travel in packs and donโ€™t yield for stop signs…”

If the road captain goes through an intersection so does everyone else behind, in tight formation, nose to tail, leaving no place for traffic to break up the pack.

One of the greatest risks in traffic is trying to regroup after being split up.

    RE:

Inconsiderate bastards on sport bikes, too many think they are stunt riders and make the general public dislike anyone on a bike. Don’t want to see anyone get hurt, but just love to see them dump their bikes while attempting to do a ” stunt ” on a public road…..too funny!

I remember a time when I was driving in my van over Stevens Pass in Washington State and all the lanes were crowed as we were coming back from a long weekend. While driving west I noted a driver in a honda coming up along in the left hand shoulder just as overtakes some cars ahead of us he loses control and spins out. As soon as the car stopped the passenger door flew open and a young gal bolted out of the car and it looked like she was screaming at the male driver.

Stupid is what stupid does don’t matter where its done or by whom.

  31. 31 alley cat Apr 11th, 2013 at 3:42 pm

    NICKER.

You have taken the stop sign situation out of context.

Do I understand that if you travel in a pack some laws don’t apply to you. My point, what is the necessity of the pack to begin with. Other than a parade, benefit etc.

    What goes thru ones mind.

Is someone going to get lost ?

Is there a conquest knowing all the ducks are in order and made it safe.

What’s the difference if automobiles practiced what you have just described.

In what state are you entitled to the right of way at your will because of numbers or a single bike.

.( Hard to school people who have been filled with false self esteem and think they know it all )

So true. Almost like the video above.

  32. 32 Buck Private Apr 12th, 2013 at 10:40 am

Stop and see if she was okay? Car didn’t even roll. If she was wearing a seat belt, it would of been
impossible. If that would of happened in the city or to a wrong MC club, (almost killing the front of the pack), she would have been beaten to within an inch of her life. She probably just pissed herself, come on. Ever watch S.O.A.?

    alley-cat,

    RE:
    “… laws donโ€™t apply to you…”

It isn’t a matter of “applying” it’s a matter of choosing to comply.
You chose to do what’s the safest way for you to proceed.

    Speed limits for example.
If you ride slower than the speed of traffic, how you are positioned relative to the cars around you is out of your control.
If you ride faster than the speed of traffic you get to decide where to position yourself.
I chose where i position myself in traffic, regardless of the speed limit.

You’ve obviously not spent much time riding in well organized packs.
Riding at speed, side-by-side nose to tail, is a far different experience than a staggered formation.
The most dangerous part of any pack ride is trying to regroup in fast thick traffic, after being split up.

In dense traffic situations the objective is to keep the group together at all costs.
The road captain has to lead in a way that allows the fist through the last rider to stay together.
A well organize road captain will have a tail rider keeping the group packed up.

Regardless traffic signs or stop lights, where the road captain goes through everyone follows”.”

If any of this means catching a traffic ticket….. that’s the price ya pay..
I don’t like traffic tickets, but i don’t wet my bed worrying about em.

Well cafesporty, I agree that squids aren’t necessarily the only idiots on the road out there, lol. But here’s the deal. Cyril just posted a youtube of a buttload of idiot squids shutting down a major freeway no less — oh, but for the very important reason that said head squid decided it was a perfect time and place to… well hell, propose! Brilliant!

The other thing is that just a couple of weeks ago, here where I live a pack 5 squids passed me whilst I was cruising my cage. They followed me at speed limit for a few minutes, then shot passed me like bats out of hell. The first passed me going probably 90 on the right side shoulder on top of the overpass (f-ing dumbass), while the other 4 followed by in the passing lane to the left. Once passed, they all 5 slowed down and hogged the damned highway and wouldn’t allow anyone to pass. They were going the speed limit, but so what? wtf?

And to Shaz: So like, if you weren’t so Dickified yourself, then maybe you might otherwise have recognized that the Context for said video above that you so snotilly provided After the fact was Not provided to us all Prior to the fact of most of us watching it.

To me, it looks like a bunch of dicks. But that just me. ๐Ÿ™‚

At this game for a long time. I trust no one around me on a bike or in a cage everyone is my potential enemy / obstacle.

I could debate some of your scenarios on pack riding but no point going there.

1 Question was/is, Pack riding, what has one accomplished by doing so. ?

    Nicker Peace and be safe.

She was probably on her phone and didn’t even know they were there. Or she could have had an injured child in the car and on the way to the emergency room . When a group takes all lanes for them selfs it’s only a matter of time before someone gets pissed and does something even dumber than the group to get around. SHARE THE ROAD FOLKS- LIVE TO RIDE / RIDE TO LIVE – YOU TOO CAGERS!

  37. 37 gtlover Apr 15th, 2013 at 3:00 pm

As a long-time rider and Volvo owner, I am likewise disappointed in the behavior of both parties. But I see stuff like this on a regular basis. People either don’t know or don’t practice “keep right except to pass” or “slower traffic keep right”. Combine that with people who are impatient, distracted, or just driving too fast for the conditions or their skill level, and it’s a recipe for disaster.

I often say, I only gamble when I operate a motor vehicle on a public roadway. Idiots like this are just rolling the dice for all of us.

    RE:
“…1 Question was/is, Pack riding, what has one accomplished by doing so…”

Pack riding is an exercise in discipline, eye-hand coordination, concentration, and riding skill.
(not to mention trusting those you ride with)
It’s the most efficient way of getting a number of experienced riders from point -A to B
What it ain’t is a relaxing Sunday putt-in-the-wind.

    RE:
“… I trust no one around me on a bike……I could debate some of your scenarios on pack riding…”

So, if what you say is accurate, you certainly couldn’t “debate” pack riding on experience……
