You may wonder why anyone would like his bagger to rest sitting flat on the ground. Hate for the kickstand? Stability? Looks? Piece of conversation? To score extra points in bike show competitions? Is there any interest for a frame setup letting you do this?
Curtis Hoffman thinks so and created the “No-Kickstand Lay-Frame” kit as a direct bolt-on replacement setup for 2009 and newer HD touring models. It includes an adjustable swing arm, modified sub-frame, one-piece steel battery box & top strap, a Lithium-Ion battery and a manual-style Fail-safe system (?) Fully TIG welded then gloss black powdercoated this frame kit will lay your bagger frame on the ground (with proper neck rake and stretch) on up to an 18″ rear wheel. Well, your comments? Hmmm
No market for this.
Agree with Shifter.
http://www.hofmann-designs.com/HD/Home.html “We are extremely busy in the shop and website updates have taken a back seat for the time being.” Busy not promoting their own products on their website,I guess.
Stupid
people are going to buy it because it cool and saves them plenty of time not having to fab one of their own.
new ideas in this industry last maybe a few months before there are ten copy cats. everyone wants a cut of the pie until the supply exceeds demand.
If you go to a custome bagger show or look online or in the mags you will see there is a market for it. Bigitch is correct that its cool and people will copy it. It will save you from a ton of headaches and money.
I have met the guy before and know that he is a one man shop. So cut him some slack on the website and checkout the Facebook page.
If you think there isn’t a market for it ,then you havent seen a bagger show lately .Not everything has to sell in the thousands to dictate “a market”
hk you are correct. The people spending the money it takes to build a bike that lays on the frame are the market. Not that everyone wants to lay frame. Also to the “no market for it” people you all are probably the same guys that said that about 21 and 23 and 26 and 30 inch wheels and we all know there is a “market” for those.
Certainly a great way of lowering the seat height for the vertically challenged rider!
You don’t just build a kit like this without doing your research about the market, so I agree there is a market for these and they will sell.
This reminds me of a Matt Hotch bike he built several years back for the Biker Build Off series that aired down on the frame. In fact it might have been the “V-luxe” that was reffered to in the 22 Titainium article Cyril did a couple days ago. I don’t recall anyone doing this before then but maybe somebody else does.
Yawn
It’s freaking cool for what it is. If you have a bike like the one pictured you are in the market and probably love it. If your bike is built for riding more than showing maybe not so much. Whatever your bike style I love to see the little guy coming up with stuff like this.
Looks safe!! 😉
That is the ugliest two wheeled vehicle I have ever seen.
what allbaggedout said!!!
Lemming (modern vernacular): A member of a crowd with no originality or voice of his own. One who speaks or repeats only what he has been told. A tool. A cretin.
I hope he sells a boat load of them.

No market? Really? That is a silly comment. Is it going to sell at the dealership? No but Covingtons has built dozens of bikes in the last year alone…I bet David can sell this on one of his creations. It is silly to think that it wont sell. There is an ass for every seat and I bet they do well on this. At least I hope they do.
isn’t this an ‘answer to a question’ that nobody asked? …just sayin’
Thanks for the compliments from the guys that understand what this product is! This is not a product meant for everyone. This is a product designed for the big wheel bagger guys that want to take their bike to the next level. Thanks Terence Tory for the comment, we have updated our website just for you! Blue Strada, if no one asked for it, why exactly would we pour our time into developing the product? Again, that is the same answer for everyone saying there isn’t a market for such product. If it isn’t for you or what you like, you don’t have to purchase it! but as we all know (even if you dont want to admit it) Big Wheel Baggers are the hot trend and it is a product for those people! Tannis, thanks for the bash! with that being said, we are going back to work developing products that some will like and some will hate!
Thanks
-Curtis
The market for this product is clear as day, and is several ply:
All of us lowrider and mini-truckin people from the late 90’s and early 2000’s who dumped thousands of dollars in body dropping and bagging trucks to lay frame… We are now into motorcycles and want to do the same to the 2 wheeled toys.
Also, the late 20-somethings who were bagging and stretching their sport bikes a few years ago are now mid-30-somethings who want the comfort of a bagger without the old man look of a stock Ultra Classic.
Just because a bike is modified and looks like a piece of art doesn’t mean it can’t be ridden. I hate hearing that and I think it’s a naive way of thinking. This new generation of bikers and bike builders know how to put a lot of love into their bikes, but still get some aggression out when they ride. And for those who think it’s not safe… I’m sure Mr. Hofmann has something up his sleeve to hush that rumor…
Like it or not, THIS IS where the industry is right now. This is what is winning shows, gracing magazine covers and turning heads on the roads.
Now, if you want to talk about not safe… let’s talk about those “builders” out there who aren’t cutting the necks on their 30 inch wheel bikes…
**26 inch** ^^^
It’s certainly not my flavour of custom touches, but I absolutely appreciate the technical & engineering side of it.
For anyone saying ‘there’s no market for it’ , well actually there is. It’s just not a ‘huge skull encrusted chrome bolt one doo-dad ‘ type market. Most shows I go to, I see at least 2 or 3 bikes with a belly sitting setup.
The kit that Hofmann put together 110% has a market. Might not be everyones flavor of bike, but when have we all agreed on anything? I have seen his work multiple times, and he’s an impressive builder to say the least. Is it safe? Would you sell a product to the general public with your name on it if it wasn’t safe? Think about it…. Curtis is a solid guy, and a super talented builder. I guarantee he’s laughing at the haters, all the way to the bank. His bikes might not be your specific flavor, but are some of the hottest rides on the streets here in MN. 3rd place in Daytona….. nuf said…. -Justin
I am sharing this info. peace
So if this guy is an impressive builder what stops this bike from a bad shock or air bag malfunction or how ever it lays down on the ground while your riding 80 90 mph on the interstate and something going wrong with the air set up….. can anyone give me those features
And I did notice he mentioned a manual style fail safe system, would be great to know what this system is for those who might be interested in purchasing, ya think !
Put MORE weight on these baggers ……………like their not heavy enough??
Probably is a market. But it was directly under ” joke of the week ” coincidence?
Hey Knuskool, your pretty positive this works, and seem to vouch for this solid guy, got a answer on the manuel style fail system ? sure everyone would be interested in hearing about it
1550tc, I am a little confused by how our product is adding “MORE” weight on a bagger. but hey, everyone has to have an opinion right?
Roadrash, If I could stop a bad shock or air bag malfunction I wouldnt need a fail safe system huh? anyways, Yes, this includes a fail safe system which IS NOT pictured. It is a simple system that locks into place when you air the motorcycle up and you have to release a lever when you want to air the bike to lay flat. Now before you say anything more, it DOES NOT turn your rear suspension rigid under normal riding conditions, if a failure in the air system happens, this will come into place and “lock-out” with over an inch of ground clearance so you can pull over or get off at the next exit. it is built to get you off the road safely, NOT to continue riding on.
Any other questions Roadrash?
Hey Hofmann, It was a ligitiment question, would be nice like I said if you would have shared this in your discription seeing it was a fail proof set up as you claimed, was just curious on how it worked and what the fail proof features of this set up was. have seen many no kick stand custom air ride systems with no saftey features, thought I would ask seeing no one else did, roger that !
