2014 Indian Motorcycle Models Delivery To Dealers

Indian-Vintage-and-ChieftainSeveral of you have commented regarding a delivery delay of the 2014 Indian models to the dealer to who they have given a deposit to confirm a Chief model order. I contacted Indian Motorcycle to have their comment. Below is the answer they gave me..

“We are still on track to start shipping new 2014 Indian models in September. Certainly there is a significant demand, not only as evidenced by a high deposit rate, but also in the increasing number of dealerships that are coming on line. We have launched a successful product, and as is the norm, customers (and dealers) want it now! We are committed to providing the best possible product and motorcycles will be released when we are satisfied that we are doing so. But, as stated, we are on track for shipments starting in September.” R. Pandya

What a bunch of lame B.S. First they say September, now they’re pushing that all the way back to September! I bet they don’t even make that and guys will have to wait until September before they get a bike. I swear these Polaris metric plastic swoopy guys can’t be trusted!

    I bought two!

a black chieftain and a red vintage, on the monday following unveil

I got a contrived explanation of how the color choices would affect the delivery dates
specifically red custom color chieftains would deliver before the standard black bikes

    and

consequently the red custom color vintages would deliver after the stock black bikes

i was further told that all of the upgrades i purchased would further delay delivery due to third party vendor being out of stock

my first date was for 9-8 and 9-18

BobS. You must work for Harley or be an ass…, or both.

  4. 4 Duke Sep 12th, 2013 at 1:47 pm

Pretty sure BobS was being sarcastic.

    Well done sir.

One of the first rules of customer satisfaction is to be conservative with your delivery.
If your late your an ###### but if your early your their best friend

Remember Polaris everyone waits 12 month for Christmas.

Maybe you should employ a person like me.
Some one in sales that loves motorcycling

As Sonny Barger once said I am available for imediate service.
    (but not behind the lines)

Ps TC the 78 clip of YMCA made me billious…

Delay tease is part of the teasing marketing campaign. More wait, more pleasure. Like in sex.

  7. 7 Woody's Sep 12th, 2013 at 2:41 pm

Good one, BobS, but I’m gonna wait ’til September to tell you that. 😉

  8. 8 timmoking Sep 12th, 2013 at 3:24 pm

@ P. Hamilton. Ha Ha! tantric motorcycling! I like that….

Look at the dealer map and you can easily tell hom many they will be delivering. Yep they
are a flea on H/D’s butt!

I also heard the Fly N Ride buyers get priority over everyone…..even those who placed their order days or even weeks before.

I ordered my bike on August 6th. If I get pushed into mid- or late- October, I am going to have a difficult time being able to pick it up (since I have to drive out of state, it has to be on a Saturday, weather concerns, etc.).

Let’s hope Polaris treats their early buyers properly.

  13. 13 calif phil Sep 13th, 2013 at 8:15 am

I have a new Cadillac on order and it is taking a month longer than I was told. I can wait and if I had a new Indian on order I would be happy to wait for it as well.

  14. 14 fuji Sep 13th, 2013 at 9:30 am

We spoiled Americans . Just anoter month of sucking my thumb what should i do.

  15. 15 Peddler Sep 13th, 2013 at 10:28 am

My local Vic / Indian dealer told me a few weeks back that they took 25 deposits.

  16. 16 doctor 3d Sep 13th, 2013 at 11:04 am

Well here in the UK where I ordered a red chief vintage for a Oct04……………
Phoned dealer today as had heard squat
In turn he’s heard squat squared.

As much as I am virtuous and patient the first summer at home in 5 years and no bike because I was prepared to wait……………..
Maybe they will have the QA/QC issues down before next summer.

Seriously considering cancelling my order (for now) and getting a original chief as right now there are a heck of a lot more around and…………….they have hand gear change.
I’d be thinking of methods to alter a 2014 to hand jamming.

  17. 17 Doc Robinson Sep 13th, 2013 at 11:07 am

Having ridden each of their models both on interstates and back roads I can tell you all they are worth the wait, without any doubt! And, as far as poor old BobS goes, his pitiful comment obviously reflects his intellect.

  18. 18 CafeSportyTC Sep 13th, 2013 at 3:30 pm

with all due respect doc , i took his comment as funny and sarcastic , emphasizing that Indian is keeping true to its word.

  19. 19 BobS Sep 13th, 2013 at 4:27 pm

Some people get it, some don’t. TGIF!

  20. 20 Bean're Sep 16th, 2013 at 8:18 am

I understand the sarcasm as yes indeed they are true to their word but this is the internet and everyone takes everything seriously unless you put “lol” at the end. I’m looking forward to riding a new Indian and know that it is worth the very short wait. Good things are worth waiting for

  21. 21 Tooj Sep 16th, 2013 at 11:40 am

    Isn’t it e-silly Beanre?

The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare.

Now that the internet has been around awhile, we know this to not be true.

  22. 22 Blackmax Sep 16th, 2013 at 6:58 pm

    Talk, talk , talk !!!!
but this is a blog & that’s what it is for ….
Tell ya’ what, The proof is in the pudding
Going to drive 300 miles, one way, across 3 states
to the nearest dealer who has the Indian demo truck
since there will NEVERR be one near my neck of the woods.
And I WILL find out if it lives up to the hype or not ???

  23. 23 courtney Sep 18th, 2013 at 1:34 am

BobS works for Polaris if anything. Certainly not Harley.

  24. 24 Homer (the real homer) Sep 18th, 2013 at 5:02 am

going to the factory today..will check on all of your orders.

  25. 25 BobS Sep 18th, 2013 at 9:04 am

Courtney gets it. Although I don’t work for either company. Like most here I have my favorites and biases. But, my sarcasm is aimed squarely at my fellow riders. You know the hypocritical ones that will blow anything the other company does out of proportion to critsize and ridicule, let look past any shortcoming, make excuses, basically be an apologist for their own preferred brand. They’ll hate all day long on Victory but when a Victory rider posts a similar critisizm on a Harley article they get all butt hurt. And vice-versa. In spite of my pro Victory bias I do make fun of pro Victory posters making false claims, usually about parts content.

  26. 26 Homer (the real homer) Sep 18th, 2013 at 11:16 am

yeah..just left the factory. don’t think production will be an issue. in fact if you own bike 680-700 it’s black and I saw it before you.

In 2003, lecturers and students from the University of Plymouth MediaLab Arts course used a £2,000 grant from the Arts Council to study the literary output of real monkeys. They left a computer keyboard in the enclosure of six Celebes Crested Macaques in Paignton Zoo in Devon in England for a month, with a radio link to broadcast the results on a website.

Not only did the monkeys produce nothing but five pages consisting largely of the letter S, the lead male began by bashing the keyboard with a stone, and the monkeys continued by urinating and defecating on it. Phillips said that the artist-funded project was primarily performance art, and they had learned “an awful lot” from it. He concluded that monkeys “are not random generators. They’re more complex than that. … They were quite interested in the screen, and they saw that when they typed a letter, something happened. There was a level of intention there.

I think it is just one scruffy ol’ Indian mechanic, lovingly building them one at a time. Or else they sub contracted to that Keebler Elves tree and are having trouble getting them out that little entrance at the bottom of the tree once built. Either way, they should try constructing an assembly line so they can build more than one at a time!

  29. 29 Andy Sep 18th, 2013 at 1:14 pm

The Indian’s are finally getting back at the white man. Stand in line and wait Pilgrams. They got some of your money already. I think they are trying to buy back New York. F the beads.

Congratulations, can’t wait to see them in person in Daytona in a few weeks

  35. 35 JackS Sep 28th, 2013 at 8:28 am

I think Dinero hit the nail on the head. The bike is a game changer and I think it was smart of Polaris to keep the Victory and Indian design and production units separate. And, with Polaris’ deep pockets, I believe Indian is finally here to stay. The MoCo would be well advised to take a close look. I am and I bet a lot of other Harley riders are too. I would love for my stock FLHX to have the torque and HP of a 111″ motor without having to pay north of $30K to get it there.

  36. 36 Radiact Sep 29th, 2013 at 4:06 am

Congratulations Dinero! Did you pre order the bike? I preordered a red chieftain and still don’t have a delivery date. Best of luck with your bike.

  37. 37 Chaos Sep 29th, 2013 at 9:51 am

I would love a delivery date, even if it was an extended date. The dealer has no information, which is frustrating.
Ordered a Black Classic w black bags and windscreen. Couldn’t see brown bags on a black motorcycle. They can take all the time they want to make it perfect; I’d just like to be in the loop.

The sky is falling….really is it so difficult to understand that a new product could come to market without a hitch. Expect more bumps in the road but eventually things will smooth out, after all they might have your deposit but not your whole pile of cash yet. The short sighted believe the hipe and buy into that, me I know cash is king and I can spend when and where I want. I have two motorcycles in the garage now so I’m still riding no matter what.
