Her name is Lanakila MacNaughton from Portland, Oregon. She is 24, a motorcyclist and a photographer.
Like other ladies I know, she is on a mission to convince other women to ride.
Her way to convince is her Hasselblad CM with which she shoots real women who ride – not models and actresses – hoping to get more of them involved in the sport.
The Women’s Motorcycle exhibition is a traveling show. Below some examples of her work documenting many facets of motorcycle culture through her lens.
You can see more of her work at Women Moto Exhibit.
Great pics. Women power.
For anyone in the Toronto area, Lanakila is participating in this years Soul Seekers motorcycle photo show…

“I hope to help discover and present female riders from all different communities, riding backgrounds, and styles, and maybe even influence some connectivity amongst riders from these different areas.”
Cool stuff but I wouldn’t ignore the Harley contingent
The brand of camera don’t make a photographer. All photography is, The art of seeing and the decivise moment!
Seeing more and more women riders these days which is great.
Thanks for the heads up on the Soul Seekers show, Matt. Will be in the area so perfect timing!
Rodent, there is much more to photography and camera than you put forth.
Lanakila MacNaughton has developed great skills. I am glad she is part of the motorcycling world.

I quote the masters
I remember about 8 years ago or so one of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue photographers shot his model with a disposable Kodak, the kind you can buy at any convenience store. So I think Rodent is right there, however, just like if a guy bought a kit bike, that doesn’t make him a bike builder. Nice work Lanakila.
Maybe the new Miss America will be riding one to her new high-tech job she’ll be taking from someone.
Not being sour grapes, but I think the pic of the girl riding with her feet on the handlebars, probably is not the right image to project to new female (or male) riders coming into the hobby. Newbies may think it looks cool, ’til someone pulls out in front of them. Just sayin’
