GaugeFace. A New Easy Way To Connect An iPad, iPhone or iPod To Your Harley-Davidson And To Display All Your Bike Info.

gaugeface1Many will never add any digital device to their bike, and of course, many will… Connecting an iPad to your Harley-Davidson Bagger’s ECM or iPhone or iPod touch (any generation model) to your Sportster is now easier than you think.

Ralph Randolph and crew at Knockout Motorcycles released a new interesting way to update your baggers. The KnockPad mounts your iPad (including the most recent Mini and Air models) directly to your bike to get all the functions of your Apple products plus your entire bike’s info easily read at a glance. It will read and displays gauge data in real-time like an old fashioned analog gauge, but way better.

gaugeface2To install The KnockPad on a Bagger, simply remove your speedo and tach , Gaugeface plugs right into the stock holes and mounts securely.

View real time engine & diagnostics data including speedometer, tachometer, engine temperature, indicator signals, current gear, AFR, MAP & much more. Read & clear DTCs.

You can customize almost everything else choosing gauges to display the information you want. With the audio out application you can also hook your Apple product though this interface directly to your amp so that you can for example stream “Pandora” over your existing audio system with RCA outs or Bluetooth.

The GaugeFace will work with Harleys since 2001 and Sportsters since 2007 with EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) based Delphi ECM’s. New 2011 and up Harley Softail & 2012 to present Dyna models use the new HDLAN. Simply plugs into your diagnostic plug. Will also work with carbureted bikes. The Knockpad is $149.95 (can be painted any color by Knockout Motorcycles KnockPad for an additional $50.00). The GaugeFace digital interface is $265.00 + $12.95 shipping & handling in continental USA. Below a video showing how to connect your digital device on a Harley Sportster. How stupid! Attach your iPad so you can read while you are splitting lanes on 101.

Rodent. You are dumb. Who told you to read while riding. You stop for this, like for directions, etc.

I don’t want to like it…but I do! And Rodent, a gauge is a gauge. What’s the difference between checking your speed on a digital iPad readout vs a traditional analog speedo? Oh I know, the iPad will probably be clearer and easier to see thereby taking your eyes off the road less 🙂

It’s against the law to use a cellphone while riding but not a ipad?

I wonder if you remove speedo and replace with iPad does the odometer show the mileage when removed, when eventually replaced to sell the bike?

Rodent. Since when an Pad is a telephone? I want to know.

Only the ECM on 11- later Softail, 12- later Dyna, and all 14 Harley will retain mileage. All other years only store mileage on the gauge.

Legally, once you change the gauge, you have to check the “not actual mileage” box on the title.

This goes against everything that drew me to Harleys when I was a kid in the early 70’s. What happened to just 2 wheels & the open road? I just can’t get into the new trends & technology. Keep your Ipads, oversized wheels & unridable barges. Nothing beats a clean & simple chopper & never will.

    Shifter
You can text and email on iPad just like a smartphone and probably Skype.
