In 2013, Polaris revived the Indian brand with the introduction of 3 Chief Models, 2 Cruisers – The Classic and The Vintage – and 1 Bagger – the Chieftain. This week, it added a 4th model, a new luxury Tourer named the Roadmaster. And tonight in Sturgis Indian Motorcycle is going to unveil to journalists a 5th model. The suspense is going on…
At a conference call after the 2014 Polaris 2nd quarter earnings report, CEO Scott Wine stated that he strongly believes that sales of motorcycles (Indian & Victory brands) is going to continue to accelerate in the second half of the year. By 2018 the goal is to achieve at least 1 billion in motorcycle sales, up to only 100 million in 2009. “We’re a little less than halfway there,” said Steve Menneto, Polaris’ Vice President Of Motorcycles. So, tonight we are going to know a little more about the new bid by Polaris to challenge market leader Harley-Davidson. Will this 5th model be the one you expect? Stay tuned for a reveal right here in my website.
Hmmmm I’m starting to think this is going to be another take on the Chief model, maybe Indian’s version of a blacked out “dark custom”.
Still have fingers crossed for a Scout though.
The suspense is killing us all!! haha
Don’t think its a Scout. No teaser ads like for Slingshot.
Since Rodent is wrong 99% of the time in his opinion, I vote for a Scout.
Water cooled
101 hp
Sportster killing
Scout
Like a sportster and a monster had a baby…
They know it’s coming up on Juneau
I’m thinking is going to be a striped down entry level version of the same platform. Minimal options, like Polaris does with the Vic 8 Ball bikes.
It’s not
It’s a water cooled smaller displacement sportster/street killer
You will never kill the Sportster.
Yamaha tried with the Bolt – ‘lighter’ and more powerful (viz torque); HD is still selling Sportsters by the buckets loads.
If you want a light, performance orientated naked bike that stands out (for tossing about town), buy a Ducati – they have been doing it longer than anybody else.
The ‘Sporster’ segment is about anything but (clinical) performance. You do not buy a 48 because it is going to “kill” anything else – you buy it because it is a laid back thing with character and as a bonus, you do not have to remortgage the house.
As mentioned before, when you buy a HD, you buy into the massive aftermarket – nobody can compete with HD in this regard. Therefore, as long as Warren Buffet is around – HD will remain ahead of the pack…
Funny
I actually think It’s Ducati they’re measuring themselves against
A little diaval more than anything else…
There are pics out there of it…
Just google the designer in that video…
Parts of his portfolio are online
My guess is , a trike .
The original Indian was more than just cruisers, so that video is a bit frustrating. Victory has how many cruisers? Now, were about to see what sounds like a 5th Indian cruiser
Please please please, Inline Four. 🙂
The original Chief was just a motocycle, there were no “cruisers” . Damn I hate these categories…My ’52 FLH wasn’t a “cruiser” either!!!!!
I bet it’s a moped……..
Looks like a v rod already saw a picture
looks like a KTM 1190 power plant, seriously, thats what the engine looks like to me. but obviously not the 150 or the 175 hp ktm powerplant though.
I do not know if I like the looks.
I saw a pic and described it for everybody here but the thought police deleted both of my posts.
It is a Bolt with a radiator
Just saw a picture of the new scout. Indian really miss the mark on this one! Two huge mufflers on the right-hand side and a huge radiator surrounded in plastic. Yikes!
