Polaris Industries Inc. Challenges Polaris Dealers To ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Today, Polaris Industries Inc.’s (NYSE:PII) Chairman and CEO, Scott Wine, completed the Ice Bucket Challenge, joining in the viral campaign to raise awareness and funds for ALS. After accepting the challenge from Dan Ariens, President and CEO of Ariens, Wine in turn nominated Bahram Akradi, Founder and CEO of Lifetime Fitness, Michael Guyette, President and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield MN, and the entire Polaris dealer network. Wine noted in his video that if 100 Polaris dealers accept the challenge, Polaris will donate an additional $10,000 towards ALS research.

“Polaris has a long history of giving back and is proud to support this effort,” said Wine. “We encourage our strong network of dealers to accept the nomination or donate to an ALS charity.” Polaris has been involved with the Black Woods Blizzard Tour, a snowmobile ride to fight ALS, since its inception 15 years ago. Since then, Polaris employees have raised more than $900,000 for the cause and are hoping to hit the $1 million mark in 2015. Visit ALS Donate to learn more about ALS and the Ice Bucket Challenge.

That a great and generous thing to do !

But geez this ice bucket thing is wearing thin

All we see over here on the news is Americans rioting in the street or throwing ice over each other.

Maybe if you throw ice over the rioters you would get the better results.

Get them to chill out……………just a wee bit funny……….na

    Rule number 1340.
Once Oprah does it , it’s got boring.

Aren’t 5-6 states in a drought? Not a dry week. A SEVERE drought. I think Cali is gonna start fining people for wasting water. I’m all for curing Lou Gehrig’s. But, how bout something that doesn’t burn resources?

“burn resources”? Wine was probably in Minnesota, you know the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” and one of the Great Lake states surrounded by the largest lakes (they are really inland seas) in the world. I’m sure they’d share their water with California if you want to come and load up a couple a million gallons. If you have a problem with the ice bucket challeng, you’d really be pissed watching me wash my car and truck with my garden hose.

I’m not unsympathetic about the drout anymore than I am any other natural phenomenon that creates hardships, but c’mon man…..were you
    joking, or just trolling?

I really don’t know what an ice water soaking is doing to further ALS research. I’m sure the $100.00 donation in lieu of the cold bath certainly does more!

FWIW, folks are encouraged to make a contribution in addition to taking the challenge, but a LOT of folks refuse the challenge which brings in big bucks. I’ll agree the thing may be getting tiresome to many, but perhaps that’s because they don’t have ALS. The bucket thingy has already raised over four times last year’s total, hard not to celebrate that! ☺
