Flashback On 2014 Las Vegas BikeFest

LVBF0When the 14th annual Las Vegas BikeFest cruised into downtown Las Vegas last October 2-5, over 33,000 motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world enjoyed four days of all things related to the world of motorcycles.  Over 200 vendors showcased the latest in parts, accessories and apparel, with a record number of parts manufacturer rigs on hand. In addition, demo rides of the newest models were offered by Indian and Victory Motorcycles. “Las Vegas BikeFest returned once again, showcasing the most innovative and cutting edge aspects of bike building,” said Mindi Cherry, Event Manager for Las Vegas BikeFest.  “There are only a few places where you can immerse yourself in the excitement and uniqueness of this culture.  Las Vegas BikeFest is one of them, which makes it the coolest place in the desert.”

RKB1RKB2RKB3RKB4RKB5The highlight of the event was the 11th Annual Artistry in Iron, Master Builders Championship. The peer-judged, invitation-only custom bike building competition, featured some of the most innovative custom bike building BikeFest has seen yet. With twenty builders gathering from all corners of the U.S. and also from Japan, the competition was steeper than it has ever been.  As expected, the bike builders rose to the challenge creating some of the most unique and creative bikes seen yet. Rick Bray of RKB Kustom Speed in Hanford, CA took home the top prize for the second year in a row. Along with winning $10,000, Bray took home the inaugural championship bracelet designed and presented by Steve Soffa from Steve Soffa Enterprises.  Rick was also presented with a VooDoo Vintage Velocity Leaf Spring Front End as well as a Metal Rescue Kit from Workshop Hero. Chris Phillips of Doomtown Choppers took home the People’s Choice Award.

LVGF1LVGF2LVGF3Attendees enjoyed a full weekend of entertainment and activity options including celebrity appearances by Tommy Flanagan (Chibs) and Mark Boone Junior (Bobby) from Sons of Anarchy; the always unpredictable Mr. and Miss Las Vegas BikeFest Competitions; a $10,000 Poker Run; Tattoo Contest; World’s Strongest Biker Competition; Bike Games; Custom Bike Show and more. Plans for the 15th Annual Las Vegas BikeFest are already in the works, with the dates for the event set for October 1-4, 2015.  More information, at Las Vegas BikeFest or toll-free 866-BIKEFEST (245-3337), or email info@lasvegasbikefest.com (photography @ Jack McIntyre)

Not Bad! Drop all the chrome and a a little bit larger rear tire and I’m thinking close to perfect from my limited perspective. Fits my time frame perfectly. Yeah…Not Bad at all!

The Artistry In Iron show saw the highest caliber of custom builds since the World Championship of Bike Building left the US. Very impressive builds.

The open chain primary on the shovel scares me. I wonder if this bike is a pure show bike or is actually ridden on a regular basis. Very nice craftsmanship.
