Hands Up With New Tall Boy And Fat Ape Handlebars From Harley-Davidson For 2015 Road Glide

Riders can hang ’em high with two new tall handlebars from Harley-Davidson® Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories designed specifically for the 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide® model motorcycles.

The Road Glide Tall Boy Handlebar (top picture) P/N 55800550 Chrome, P/N 55800551 Satin Black; $279.95) features an optimized ergonomic design for taller and long-limbed riders.

With 12 inches of rise, the Tall Boy Handlebar is two inches higher than the Original Equipment bar. Diameter is 1.25 inches and it also accepts internal wiring for a clean look.

3Road-Glide-Fat-Ape.1The classic-shape of the Road Glide Fat Ape Handlebar (bottom picture) P/N 55800548 Chrome, P/N 55800549 Satin Black; $289.95) adds a touch of old school style to the Road Glide model. This beefy 1.25-inch diameter bar features 15 inches of rise and a shape that provides a cool yet comfortable riding profile. This fat bar accepts internal wiring for a show-quality installation.

Both the Road Glide Tall Boy and Fat Ape handlebars fit 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide® and Road Glide® Special models, but do not fit the CVO™ Road Glide® Ultra model or work with heated handgrips.     Yeah that’s just you. Some of us taller riders want to be comfortable when we ride and having hands down by our knees ain’t comfortable.

    For a lot of us; the apes are more comfy. For those who ride in cold weather where gloves are not enough; there are some wind blockers for the hands available. The Brukus name brand comes to mind.

    An interesting idea to be able to lower the bars for bad weather with the use of one tool might be collapsible bars similar to an old time antenna or maybe like on a bicycle seat, a tooless cam lock.

    I can see the 12 inch bars for the reasons stated above by Boomer.
    The 18 inch, well, it is what it is, say what you will ???
    If you like em’ Buy them !!!
    I’m more in line with Mr Dick…..

    Since in 30 + years of riding I’ve never had a bike with a fairing I wouldn’t know but having several bikes with apes, presently a set of 16″ Chubbies on my fatboy and 14″ on my Dyna, I do know about what makes me comfortable.

    That’s cool JD !!!
    You’ve got to do what comfy for you to ride
    & we all understand the benefits
    of sitting straight up & down vs. all bent over.
    Depending on your height some folks would be more comfy with higher apes
    I would not & keeping it in the 12 to 14 inch range is just fine for me
    To each their own !!!!
