Voters Approve Buffalo Chip Campground Becoming South Dakota’s Newest Town. Still Some Obstacles. Voters unanimously decided to make the Buffalo Chip into South Dakota’s newest and USA most motorcycle-friendly town. The city of Sturgis and some neighbors of the Chip oppose the Buffalo Chip being incorporated. A group of 56 land owners and the city of Sturgis have appealed the Meade County Commission’s approval of the petition to hold Thursday’s incorporation election. Both the city and the land owners cite residency inconsistencies as one of the reasons for the appeal, questioning voters not living at the Buffalo Chip but listed as voters in the proposed incorporated area. Owner of the Buffalo Chip Rod Woodruff said “I’m bonded to the Sturgis area. We are part of this whole thing together. I want to work with the city of Sturgis to keep the rally here and not at Exit 55” in reference to the I90 exit 55 in Rapid City where the Harley-Davidson Official Dealer has attracted many rally vendors formely setup in or around Sturgis.

Polaris India Exploring Possibility To Assemble Indian Motorcycles In The Country In 3 To 5 Years. “We are not immediately looking at having assembly of completely knocked down (CD) units here, but we are exploring possibilities of having CKD assembly here in next three to five years,” said Polaris India Managing Director Pankaj Dubey. Such a step, he said, would help in bringing down the prices of some of its models in India. The company imports bikes as completely built units from its lone manufacturing facility in the US.  Local assembly will help the ‘Indian’ brand to take on rival Harley Davidson, which assembles some of its models in Haryana, India.

WHAT, a controversy between the City of Sturgis and the Buffalo Chip…….nah say it ain’t so! Who would have thunk that the City of Sturgis would be upset that they could not control all the marbles in the game.

    Over & Out,

    Jeff

I am curious to know how many people are living full time at the Buffalo Chip. And they vote to become a city? Sounds fishy to me.

Who is financing Motus? Must have spent millions since they got started. Sorry, but I don’t see them lasting a long time.

Guess it’s a joke right? Pretty funny. Next step apply for statehood then secede from The Union. Become the Buffalo Chip Nation, a separate country within the USA.

The hick “village” of Sturgis is a small inconsequential blip on the map until for 2 weeks of the year it becomes a major city in South Dakota.
The new town of Buffalo Chip is a pasture with some people living on it except for 2 weeks of the year it becomes a major village, town, city or just a metropolis with thousands of people actually living in it.
Question: are there more people living in Sturgis or more in Buffalo Chip during those 2 weeks?

Buffalo chip becomes its own town then it can do what it wants…write its own ordinances ………easy to see what they are doing. Like politics, you can buy your way in.
Doesn’t matter Sturgis is a joke.

Let them do what they want ….
In the end people are still going to go there
& I don’t think the city of Sturgis proper, will be hurt 1 iota.
Hasn’t affected them before, why should it now ???

WHAT?! You mean the dealer for the “official” motorcycle brand of Sturgis is actually in Rapid City! AND pulling their vendors and rally goers out of town?! Say it ain’t so. Sounds like Sturgis didn’t think that one through very well. (or rather just saw the dollar signs thrown at them)

All it needs is a Woodyville suburb
