On Thursday August 6, 2015 Hero MotoCorp has been confirmed by the court as the owner of Erik Buell Racing’s technology and design consulting operation. At the same time a bid of 2.25 million by a new Jersey company named Atlantic Metals Group LLC for all EBR’s machinery and tools has also been approved. Until now the company specializes in products for architectural lighting. Atlantic Metals Group LLC had no bidding competitor to acquire those assets.
Its owner, CEO Bruce Belfer, is an avid biker and intends to immediately restart EBR’s manufacturing, hoping to do good business from his passion for motorcycles. For this purpose, Belfer knows that he will have to convince vendors, dealers and consumers to continue to do business with the new EBR. Not an easy task after all the turmoil associated with the Erik Buell name.

Eric should be hired for big money by some company who wants to use his ability as a designer/inventor not his business smarts.
rodent. inventor ? In what field ?
Wish Mr. Belfer good luck. Owning a motorcycle manufacturing company sounds like a dream come true. Hope that dream isn’t a nightmare.
Ahem … for your edification BobS … the CEO , Mr Belfer is NOT the owner . HERO India is the owner as well as previously being part owner and reality they couldn’t give a rats tail about EBR … using it as an entry point for all their other products and them letting it fall by the wayside . So wish Mr Belfer the sense to save his pennies or has one heck of a Golden Parachute in his contract while he’s employed cause all bets are … he won’t be for long
methinks rodent meant ‘ innovator ‘ Fuji … not inventor .. cause yeah … inventor he is not .. but innovator ? Absolutely
BobS: ok more of a designer/fabricator
fuji, you obviously have no idea of the incredible number of innovations that Buell introduced in his bikes.
According to wikipedia, ‘he designed a stiff, extremely light chassis that incorporated the unconventional rubber-mounting system known as “the Uniplanar” that became a patented engineering trademark of Buell sport bike’
He was the first to advocate for mass centralization that included under-the-engine exhaust, now copied by other manufacturers.
Continuing, ‘Buell led the company to create some of the most innovative, usable sport bikes to date under the XB series of Buell Motorcycles. Using inventions like a hollow frame to house the fuel, a hollow swing arm to house the oil, and an underslung exhaust pipe, he was able to keep the center of gravity low for optimum handling.’
And then there is his brilliant perimeter front brake that has been copied by many custom bike builders…
I suspect that this new company will be hiring Erik to at least to be a consultant, since the bike is his baby.
Like a Phoenix, he continues to rise from the ashes!
Fuji,
When Working for HD he came up with a number of innovations. FXR frame was one that comes to my bleary alcohol Sunday morning infested mind .
Great to hear that Buell is back in business–no matter who “owns” the technology it is important to keep innovation and talent at work.
HERO owns the tech part, not the manufacturing part. Though w/o EriK Buell and his engineers they bought an empty bag.
In typical fashion. Some need to read correctly and comprehend before they before they respond or understand what a word means.
