If they keep it simple ,do not build 500+ bikes a year, and use any color but red, they miiiiiight make it. peace

Do people still want these? An honest question, not a dig. I still see used bikes like this with virtually no miles on them come up for sale locally for pennies considering their original purchase price.

LOVED my 2009 Ridgeback!!! Not one problem the whole time I owned it, and I rode it a lot.
Biggest drawback for me was polishing all that Aluminum to a mirror finish (I’m a detail freak), but DAM that thing looked good when I was done. Sadly after over 5 years, and with the downfall of BigDog, I moved on. Still miss it though!!! No hate here at all……..
Good luck to those guys for trying!!!

Big Dog always made really nice clean bikes. If BD plans on expanding their line of bikes in the future I wonder how they’d do if they were to manufacture bikes built around the Indian Scout motors? After seeing that super nice Tomahawk Scout built by V-Twin Garage from Bordeaux, France (featured Mar.14th on Cyril’s site), something like that may also attract several new customers to BD.

I am curious if the primary drive & trans are still their proprietary design or have they gone back to the standard primary & trans configuration? No good left side pics so far…….

    Best of luck Big Dog!!

In my capacity as a moto-scribe and frequent contributor to one of the country’s top 3 print American V-Twin motorcycle magazines I got the chance to demo many of the radical chopper/prostreet offerings available during the early portion of the millennium. Of the most popular models on the market I found that the Big Dog line provided a highly competitive level of ride-ability. If I could only afford to own one bike I wouldn’t choose a radical chopper. That said; If I had to choose one radical chopper from the previous decade I would include a Big Dog model in my top 2-3 options.

Once I developed the technique necessary to effectively pilot a stretched chopper I came to realize that the integrity of the frame played an inordinately significant part in a radical’s ability to respond to road conditions as well as rider input. While the Big Dog models I rode required me to be ever vigilant around town once I got the beast on some sweepers the thing tracked like it was on rails; if I can use a cliché.

Then there’s the look… I ride a 2008 Softail Custom; arguably the slickest custom the Motor Company ever produced but when I pull up next to a Big Dog model, at stop light or in a parking lot, I feel like somehow I’m not as committed as the guy who rides that stretched-out beauty.

What can I say; my early memories of V-Twins includes a love affair with choppers from the ’60’s. When a radically designed example of two-wheeled industrial art rolls into view my short hairs all snap to attention just as they did 50-years ago.

So; Keep the good stuff comin’ Matt.

I’ll be happy; hell, I can’t wait to test-ride your new offering.

I wish you the best of luck in bringing back Big Dog & the K-9
I used to work at an Easyrider franchise. back in the day
Saw a lot of these bike roll off the lot.
Never could get used to cornering with that big ass rear tire,
but they were fun bikes !!!
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the future
    & to Cyril’s test ride/review

I think it’s great that these guys have the balls to give it a try. I still love the chopper style. I think it’d be great if they revived it so good luck!

Good luck, always thought they were the cleanest of the genre, and I mean that as a compliment. ☺

I liked The Mutt, yes people today are soft, they buy a bagger then trailer it everywhere. Keep the production down as well as the cost and let’s see what happens

  14. 14 bigitch Apr 7th, 2016 at 11:36 pm

one would think that if you wanted a custom chopper you would have one made to your taste , style, and criteria.
    not some cookie cutter product
but then again look at brass balls. they said they would make you a bike your way but instead took the money and ran away.
i don’t believe there are 50 people who are going to buy this for 32k. maybe…9, okay

  15. 15 Doc Robinson Apr 8th, 2016 at 8:47 am

If the 1990s come back they could do very well. I wish them luck, truly, but with my fingers crossed.

  16. 16 calif phil Apr 8th, 2016 at 8:56 am

I hope they will support the older Big Dog’s as well. It’s great to see them back in business and I hope they do well.

More like a STRAY DOG soon to be a DEAD DOG…

I’d love to own this badass chopper with loads of HP/TQ. The only things I would want different is a one gallon larger tank and some nice looking heel rests due to a couple of bad back surgeons. Otherwise if it runs and is as good as it looks; I see a winner.

I’d really like to see the chopper “fad” come back. Seems like it comes and goes in different variations but to me this old school look with newer tech is King.

Other people have already purchased the recession parts and can build their own for less than half that price. And who is going to make the FRAMES since Daytec has gone too.

  20. 20 Zenaldo Apr 9th, 2016 at 12:20 am

Some parts I’d reconsider, but good luck…

  21. 21 MikeC Apr 9th, 2016 at 3:50 pm

So glad they are back! I’ve got, and ride my ’05 Chopper AKA K9 (with replaced electronics), and ’09 Wolf. These are great riding, great running, great looking Bikes!

  22. 22 mike Apr 11th, 2016 at 8:53 am

If they have the will, maybe there will be a way . good luck gang

Nothing but the best wishes for success possible. It takes more intestinal fortitude than most will ever know to hang it out there on your own – no matter if you are a plumber, barber, insurance agent or motorcycle builder.

My 2001 Big Dog Prosport was bought back by Big Dog under threat of the lemon law. First 49 days of onwership, 30 of them were at the dealer for various repairs. Worst ownership experience of any product in my life. Just really lousy quality control.

Like a previous person said… does anyone really want these anymore? Of course they only need 50 people, so maybe they have a small chance. Also in this age of counter balanced rigid motors, why use a non balanced motor?

    Overall… meh…

    V-rodder

I loved my 04 Chopper, welcome back!

  26. 26 takehikes Apr 11th, 2016 at 1:00 pm

I have no idea why anyone wanted one the first time let alone again.

  27. 27 rebel Apr 11th, 2016 at 1:58 pm

CHOPPERS RULE and they never were for everyone, good luck guys

  28. 28 Dickster Apr 11th, 2016 at 4:10 pm

To all the people who think these bikes were only cool 10-15 years ago obviously have never owned one or could afford it, these bikes are timeless. I have owned a 2005 Big Dog chopper for over 10 years and 30,000 miles with not one problem except for it wanting to go faster. You can put all the add on shit in the world on a Harley and guess what is still a Harley with no style. So keep hating why I keep smiling as I pass you bye, Big Dog will never die!!!!!

  29. 29 Dealer Dave Apr 12th, 2016 at 8:59 pm

Good to see an Old Friend back on the Block..

Big Dogs and Choppers aren’t for everyone, but those who can afford them love them… You don’t buy a motorcycle like this for it”s trade in value You buy it because you can and they KICK ASS 124 ci.S&S is alot of motor on a Chopper, more motor than most people have balls…. Good luck with the first 50….. Maybe they will do a Working Man’s Special like Henry Ford Black only smaller S&S motor for 10,000 less… That would sell…..

  30. 30 tejasandre Apr 13th, 2016 at 1:11 pm

glad to see them back. still love my ironhorse.

  31. 31 Misty Sep 20th, 2016 at 8:32 pm

So glad my dad decided to keep his K9 when people were telling him to sell after the business went under. Please, please do not set up with Rodney’s Cycle House in Little Rock, Arkansas as a dealer! They rip people off and lie about the work they perform on bikes and then bill you and that’s part of why it didn’t work the first time! Welcome back Big Dog!!

  32. 32 Rockman Oct 11th, 2016 at 12:02 am

I have a 2007 bigdog Mastiff and I really love this bike. My previous bike was a twin cam with a magna charger. My big dog handles really well and really fun to ride. I get a lot of compliments on my 300 rear tire. My only draw back is I’m really afraid one day my wiring will fail. From all the stories I read and hear from people about the wiring I’m scared as heck. My big dog has 8k miles and runs like a champ.
Don’t want my fun to be cut short from poor wiring. I hate to feel that way every time I ride. Just waiting
for my bike to die keeps me from enjoying a beautiful bike.

  33. 33 NITROD Jan 2nd, 2017 at 8:17 pm

I love my 04 Mastiff… Great running comfortable, Head turning Kickass bike. The only problem I ever had was the Dreaded EHC.I replaced it several years ago, and have had no more electrical issues….Good Luck, and welcome back…….Looking forward to see what you will have to offer!!!!!!!!!!!
