I have to agree… odd phrasing for a headline. a person rode a motorcycle off stage, the motorcycle was only doing as directed. Probably being phrased this was so the Internet search bots don’t pick up Roland’s or Indian’s names and end up all over the Internet news sites

It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt then it becomes a horrible accident.

Lawyers on the left, insurance goons on the right…

Announcer says no front break as he goes off the stage. Wonder if it had a rear brake?

I am sure it was an accident, but it is so sad for all.

Elevated stage, No front brake, Wet surface and drives off the stage….I can visualize the ambulance chasers lining up now to reduce the bank accounts for ALL that participated.

It was Indians factory race GNC dirt track model – they have no front brakes. Being possibly an engineering built model built quickly fir the unviel earlier at Lichters show, possibly not meant to be ridden, the rear brake could have had air in the lines. All & all, terrible tragedy at an otherwise exciting event.

Gee I think I’ll sue because I had to watch this dumbass ride off the stage and hurt people!

Wow! Seems like a rather hurried rush to have a trial & hanging within 24hrs. How could anyone here possibly know if there was an equipment malfunction or similar explanation? You have a very competent rider overshoot a stage at low speed, could be he went to grab a handful of non-existent front brake, or maybe a simple as a foot slipping off the rear one. I just don’t see how folks need to act like they know 100% what happened, this early.

…and to possibly correct myself-if it WAS set up to actually race, there may have been no left rider’s peg/ rear brake lever anyway ☺

At the 75th on rt.79 North I stopped a bike being ridden
recklessly and chewed him out for endangering everyone at the rally…..It was the Roland Sands-Geico
    75thSturgis theme bike….

    ROLAND SANDS on INSTAGRAM:
When things go south as they did Sunday night I can now look back and be thankful, by the grace of god everyone is ok. There was no burnout or stunt involved in the incident. I have ridden and raced this bike for the past year and know it well. Simply put, It was an accident.
My sincerest apologies to those who were involved. I can deal with the embarrassment and hurting myself which I’ve done often, but when other people are involved it weighs heavily on my heart.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to me these last few days. Happy to report Myself and everyone involved is back at the Chip to continue the festivities. If your here hope to see you at the races tomorrow.

HD publicity and marketing conquest. Accident or not, it’s in front of thousands before a Kid Rock concert, so let the damage control begin. Look for other videos where Roland climbs up on the stage and runs behind the curtains. Should be interesting how this plays out on Indian’s brand and RSD.
