A tradition to start the Sturgis Rally, on Monday August 8 thousand of bikers gathered at the Silverado-Franklin Gaming Complex in Deadwood, SD, to raise significant funds for local charities.
The event starts with an industry press conference and is followed by a live custom motorcycle auction right on Deadwood’s historic main street.
The 2 items raising the largest amount of money were the 2 custom bikes built last winter by area Black Hills students during the “Buffalo Chip Challenge” under the direction of Keith Terry and the supervision of 2 professionals, John Shope for a custom 2015 Indian Chief Classic and Rusty Jones for a 2016 Victory Cross Country. Then, hundred of pre-registered bikers joined some of the biggest names in television, film, music and famous builders for a self guided scenic ride alongside the beautiful Black Hills and ending at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip.
