Baker Drivetrain is announcing the launch of the new Grudge Box Builder’s Kit described as “a more durable than Harley stock 6-speed transmission, tightly tuned and tough under late model power of 2007 and later Softail & Touring models and 2006 and later Dyna models (a Strip version is also available.) No case modifications are required for installation.
Cruise at 85mph with the overdrive 6th gear; lowering RPM on the highway for improved fuel economy, reduced vibration and less wear and tear on the rider. All versions have a .92 overdrive 6th gear (250 RPM reduction). The new generation OVERDRIVE can handle over 200+HP! Finishes available for gear case, top cover, door in raw, wrinkle black, polished and chrome.
The Grudge Box Main Features:
– Double tapered roller main drive gear bearing, which is a much more robust setup than stock.
– Straight cut 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears for efficient torque multiplication. Helical 4th, 5th and 6th gears for smooth and quiet cruising.
– Frictionless linear detent shift system for smooth shifting.
– Redundant neutral detent to make it easy to find neutral.
– Low effort, single axis/linear motion ratchet pawl.
– The GrudgeBox utilizes a speedometer reluctor ring (patent pending) for sending the vehicle speed signal through the stock speed sensor, keeping the pulses per mile the same as stock.
Baker test pilot Scott ‘Lefty’ Lerg is riding a 2015 Street Glide (aka the White Widow) across the country for the next two weeks, joining up with the Hot Bike Power Tour, riding to the Indian Larry Block Party and meandering around the country in between events. He’ll be wide open throttle and putting the toughest transmission to the test! Scott reports The GrudgeBox is performing flawlessly so far.

Interesting..with a mix of straight cut & helical cut gears in the same box..
But will it CLUNK?
I’m really surprised at the gearing – looks like the stock box would have better acceleration. Apparently this is only intended for bikes with much more torque/hp than stock.
Bert Baker is the undoubted GO TO GUY when it comes to transmissions. I’ve run several of his gearboxes including the awesome DD7 and currently have a 6-into-4 in my 1970 S&S powered Shovelhead. I recently rode this Shovel from the bottom to the top of Australia and back down and then from east to west and back on a charity ride. Flawless performance the whole way and I reckon every Shovel owner would enjoy the reduced revs at highway speed. You go Bert!
Baker are the market leader their transmissions and kits are second to none and the higher output engines are really putting the stock HD boxes to the test, this would be a great upgrade. Simon HDM
