H-D fires full time employees and hires temps. And because of experience H-D prefers torecruit former full time employees as temps. Who do you think won?

“Seasonal” workers are for Lowes and snow removal services. Not for the production of 15-35K motorbikes.

Uhh, what? The motorcycle industry is *exactly* as seasonal as “snow removal services,” and for exactly the same reason, just for the exact opposite season.

Same thing happens in the outboard motor business, and the big V-6s cost more than many bikes. Large mfg. plants have plenty of entry level positions that can be manned by temps when needed seasonally. Smart full-time employees will take advantage of every training opportunity and tuition programs to make themselves more promotable and valuable to their employer. It sucks, but employees are to expensive to keep as pets when not needed to get product out the door.
