Recall For 2016-2017 Triumph T120 Bonneville

The Triumph Bonneville T120 and T120 Black models come with heated grips. When turned on, these heated grips can expand and cause the throttle to stick open, creating a risk of crash.

Under number SB 546, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published a recall for 1390 units of these 2016-2017 models.

Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will install free of charge a spacer preventing the throttle from sticking. The recall is expected to begin February 20, 2017. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 678-854-2010.

Triumph’s heated grips have always sucked. This just proves it.

VForce mine are brilliant on my T120 as they were on my Tiger Explorer. What problems do you have with them?

They don’t work with a damn. I have been riding Triumph’s since the T300s in the ’90s and they have always been crap. Crap switches, crap feeling grips, terrible design. Triiumph has had problems with them for years on several models- Sprint/ Trophy mainly. They are junk. But hey, I am Glad you like yours.

Let’s face it; If you need heated handgrips, it’s too cold to ride anyway.

Keep telling yourself that. I will enjoy the extra riding. I don’t have an issue riding when its below 50 with them or even heated gloves. My major concern isn’t the cold, its when there is ice on the road.

Get a Gerbing vest and gloves – keeps me warm without having to modify the bike.

HD Rider, I agree, I have just bought a Gerbing heated jacket, bloody brilliant but get the heat controller with it, its too hot without it. Never too cold to ride but I draw the line at ice and snow.
