The late great Beatle John Lennon (1940-1980) was using this little Honda Z50A to zip around his UK Tittenhurst Park Estate, his main residence in 1969. H&H Classics is going to auction it March 4 at the National Motorbikes Museum in England and online. with bids to be estimated around £30,000 (US 39,000)…
In running order with matching frame and engine numbers. Largely unrestored and original. Extensive history file including green log book, old MOTs, Honda dating letter etc. Great investment potential?
Is the red bike just a stock illustration? Mr. Lennon appears to be riding a blue one.
Dang Woody . Good catch ! Mr Lennon is on either a blue or a black one ( the color reproduction is a bit vague )
True, on my cell it looks dark blue, but on my laptop it’s more black. Looking up Honda Z50A on Google shows two different blue colors but both are lighter than the one in the pic, so it’s probably black. That said, Rolls Royce never offered a Phantom V painted like a Gypsy Wagon, either 😉
Give peace a chance !! and he is riding around in battle dress… thats weird
cound find a fixer for $500 in Lake Elsinore. Who care is he rode it 2-3 times.
I call bs,
Look closely. Its a black and white photo that has been colorized. You can’t trust the colors on the photo.
Does the tag on the fork have the same number as the tag in the picture?
These bikes never came in Black or Dark Blue, only
Red and White or Yellow and White, I call super size
Bull Shit
RKR’s suggestion makes a lot of sense, and if the provenance of the bike being sold is solid, would absolutely fit right in. Dilly Dilly 😉
RKR could be correct, if the bike’s provenance is tight, the colored picture certainly wouldn’t be deal killer. Good catch.
The two gas tanks sure look different though, especially the tops.
Colorized or not . The girls sweater is red . The wall and JL’s gloves are orange . So there is no excuse for the bike not being the right color .
And provenance ? If you’ve been paying attention over the last ten years you know most provenances aren’t worth the paper they’re written on .
Which is to say buyer beware .
Gotta admit, John Lennon was amazing. Singer, Songwriter, Actor, Staff Sergeant. 😉
Pretty sure girl in the sweater is his son, Julian, but I may have been wrong about the gas tank, too 😉
