Skate Art Street Bob

“Vote and crown your Custom King” says again Harley-Davidson in 2018. This year. 250 official Harley dealers on 3 continents participate to the “Battle Of Te Kings” and can build their project on one of the 2018 Harley models. Contrary to former years when the Sportster was first imposed, then became the preferred platform of customization, the new Softail Street Bob with its new 107″ Milwaukee-Eight® engine, new front & rear suspension at a price that won’t break the bank, seems to be the choice of many dealers.

Looking at this year’s Battle Of The King production one can notice that many chosen themes and designs are quite Millennial Centric. For sure not the most comfortable rides, but those that youngsters are looking for. In this case a naked Street Bob featuring a skate board as a seat, a “holed” hand shifter, a half helmet covered headlight, gas tank logo en “Grip” de skateboard, “Psycho” ape hangers for attitude, Firestone tires, Trumpet exhaust. To this was added a lot of custom fabricated parts: the brass radiator, the modified gas tank, the ront and rear fenders. For an extra touch of retro this project was the opportunity to incorporate as much as possible of the new Harley Brass accessories lineup or to “brass” some essential parts. grips, fuel cap, forks, pegs, Derby cover, Time cover, Caches on front wheel axle, air filter. And to finish a rusty looking paint job. Harley-Davidson Portes De Bretagne

When I saw the German helmet headlight cover I don’t know why I immediately thought of Sgt. Schultz from Hogan’s Heroes?

These styling trends could foreshadow the new Harley line in 2020.
The future is dull brown, sitting on a board.

Sitting on a skate deck over a dull brown bike might inspire the HD stylists.
Cant wait to see genuine HDPatina paint jobs and SE Maple saddles, even Third Leicht Headlite visors.

luckily I keep a tin of altoids on my workbench…just puked in my own mouth.

sorry, I don’t get it. and my millennial son (21) and I (52) skate too…

under the pretense bikes are made to be ridden, this one must be a “showpiece.”

no disrespect, jus’ too artsy and not realistic for an everyday rider.

The nightmarish tires, crap-cap head (pun intended) light, 1 mile ride seat, etc, aside – can somebody please remind me why you need a skateboard when you have a bike; as in I do not grasp the concept in it entirety.

PS – the entire ‘surfboard/motorbike’ thing works on my nerves; but at least I (sort of) get the idea behind it.

Its all in the eye of the beholder they say…
I like the helmet light but the hand shifter on a new bike is just dumb.
