The Wrench. An Indian Scout Build-Off Competition For 3 Amateur Builders.

Unlike any other custom motorcycle competition, The Wrench will celebrate those who find their sense of identity, purpose and glory, spending painstaking hours wrenching on garage builds. Indian Motorcycle is in search for three non-professional builders who do not make a living building and customizing motorcycles, looking for everyday “wrenchers” who do it only for the passion, not the pay.

Indian will be accepting submissions from March 15-30, the top submissions will be showcased online for fan voting. Those selected will receive a 2018 Scout Bobber and $10,000 build budget from Indian Motorcycle. The finished builds will be unveiled in July, and again open for a fan vote to select the winner. The top vote-getter will be announced at Sturgis and receive a grand prize of $10,000. Contestants cannot make a living customizing motorcycles.

To enter, wrenchers can visit Indian Motorcycle and submit 500 words explaining their build plans and why they’re deserving to be one of three participants. Submissions should include a sketch or digital design rendering of their customized Scout Bobber concept, along with descriptions and imagery of previous builds. Those submitting are asked to include any references who can reinforce their talent and justify their skills. Video submissions are also welcomed. Indian Motorcycle, along with Hot Bike magazine and a panel of expert judges, featuring Roland Sands, Satya Kraus, Jason Paul Michaels and Hot Bike Editor-in-Chief Jordan Mastagn will decide the 3 “wrenchers”

Good luck hiding that hideous radiator.

Maybe that’s the coolest part about the contest. If somebody comes up with an amazing way of hiding the radiator, Indian might use it. Personally, I think Harley should do that with the new Fat Bob, extra points to whoever covers up the hideous oval headlight 🙂

There was a show years ago with Russell Mitchell, they had so much money to spend building a bike. There was another show recently with RS that worked the same way. Those were good shows

I think it would be really cool if one of the teams DID come up with a better radiator treatment (almost anything would be an improvement) and then maybe they could go on to redesign the new Fat Bob “Bender” headlamp. Seriously, these competitions are a great idea, better than some theme bike thingy.

How about a full length top to bottom solid heavy cover with the picture of a real motorcycle printed on it…. Sell one to every victim that purchased this pos!!!!

This is an awesome idea. A great way for Indian to gather ideas for future model updates

After building this Scout Bobber maybe Indian can help Harley with that POS Fat Bob!

I test rode the Fat Bob, hate the headlight or not that bike freaking rips! I like the change, the duel headlamps on the old version were too bug like.

The secret formula is no front fender, brown seat, clownish balloon off road tires and up pipes that leave leave blistered burnt legs. Racing number plates for a bike that will never taste racing fuel could be the tie breaker.

    …..and brown pipewrap.

Sorry about the double post, I admit that it was nothing so profound that it should have come twice.

Its a great idea to let amateur builders take the stage for once. Not everyone wants a showpiece build from the big guys that is in reality a death trap. AND if the designers at the factories DO SEE great ideas and can make them available to the other people that buy their bikes then all to the good.
