Rick fairless Extends His Dallas Biker Empire

Riding through Texas or just living in the Dallas/Fort worth area, Strokers Dallas has always been a favorite destination for bikers because it’s not only a custom motorcycles shop, but also a bar/restaurant called Ice-House with free live music from Friday night to Sunday all day. You know, bikes, beer & babes. But owner and fellow custom builder Rick Fairless (whose Grateful Dead tee-shirts are as famous as my black leather pants) knew that something was still missing to reach the full spectrum of the biker lifestyle. Evidently a place where you could also get a tattoo. So, Rick just opened Strokers Ink next to Strokers Dallas and to Strokers Ice-House. Since an empire can always get bigger (especially in Texas), I would suggest Rick to plan for a Strokers Hotel (each room will wear the name of a well-known custom builder), and when it’s completed I will stop by for a rest in “my room” on my 2500 miles journey to Sturgis. Strokers Dallas.

Hi Cyril. Thanks for putting up the post about my new tattoo shop – Strokers Ink. Not a bad idea about the hotel. When I do that I’ll make your Cyril Huze room with leather covered walls. Maybe some red shag carpet. Wont that be cool! About the guy who commented that I "hardly do anything", well, I own 5 Strokers related business & I work every day, 8 days a week, 13 hours a day. I don’t EVER take a day off. I go to work EVERYDAY at 6am & I go home at 7:30pm EVERYDAY. Surely I must be doing something right. Anyway, Thank you Cyril, I enjoy your blog & I really enjoy your work. Your a swell Cat! C-Ya soon. RF

Long live Strokers Dallas. Rick Fairless does cool work. To Jatinder: when a business is successful, you have employees to help you. And it’s because you know how to do the job that employees can do it right. I am sure that successful people like Ness, James, Yaffe, Huze etc… don’t do everything on their bikes. But they make them happen because they conceive and are able to direct their employees in the right direction to produce their designs. Do you think that a fashion designer cuts all his clothing? Of course not. It doesn’t mean he is not able to do it. But he has other tasks to accomplish, like in any sucessful business. And yes, custom builders also try tomake money. Not you? Paid by the hour custom builders make less money than what you think.

It’s a great idea Cyril. An hotel conceived for bikers. Nobody did it. Bikers videos in the room. Autographed pictures on the walls. room service with builders food on the menu. The Fairless pancakes, the Huze french omelets, the Mitchell english bacon, the Ness californis roll, the Chica Sushis, etc…

I’m sorry to hear that Rick works so hard. . . He should be like Boyd and many other business owners who understand that a business is supposed to serve the owner not the other way around! It may be helpful for the uninitiated to read the book The Emyth by Michael Gerber.
