Inside a 4-Stroke Engine

Sara Liberte sent me an email to direct my attention to an interesting video showing how a 4 stroke engine works. In this film you get a very slow motion inside look. The plug is firing about roughly 250 times per minute at idle speed. So imagine at 1,000 rpms, then at  7,000 rpm. As Sara wrote to me, timing is everything. To start video click on arrow in controls at bottom of screen..

I have seen several high tech computer simulated videos before in different forms. Albeit a car, Subaru has a really cool video out of one of there motors with simulated fire, spark,Etc… but this is the first time you see a camera ‘view’ of the real thing! This is cool!

Now, I want to see an “inside camera view” of one pass on a top fuel drag car! bye-bye camera! All would see is a ball of fire.

THIS IS PRETTY COOL ALTHOUGH YOU DONT GET TO SEE THE EXHAUST STROKE WITH AS MUCH ZEAL AS THE INTAKE STROKE. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT TEACHING TOOL

Isn’t this the coolest thing you have ever seen. We all know how the 4 stroke works, but to see it in action is awesome! I have no idea how they shot this, but man is it great. It really helps to show people exactly what is going on, and hopefully get everyone savy to keeping their bikes in top notch shape. ~Sara
