Australia’s #1 Harley Magazine Answers Your Questions

You tell me over and over that you love to see custom bikes from different countries. And personally, I enjoy very much looking (I can only read 2 languages) at all the foreign magazines I receive. Different cultures translate into different custom motorcycles. So, from time to time, I post a foreign born bike and your emails tell me you would like to see more. A Blog being a very limited space for each of my articles, the other way to refresh your eyes is to travel the web looking for the leader magazine in each country. Not easy if you don’t know where to look. This post to bring you first Down Under in Australia where Heavy Duty is the #1 Harley Mag. It’s a quite luxurious bimonthly magazine established in Melbourne Australia in 1991. It is dedicated exclusively to American V-Twin powered motorcycles and their owners, riders and enthusiasts. The most interesting, in addition to the featured custom bikes is that the magazine currently has almost always at least 5 different models on their test fleet which cover the five major platforms manufactured by the Harley-Davidson factory. The magazine and staff own all these bikes. They are used to evaluate products as well as provide an ongoing analysis of the models themselves. The staff is all actively involved in riding, racing, rebuilding and restoring H-Ds. Heavy Duty sponsors custom bike shows and various readers’ rides throughout the year. In 2007 Associate & Technical Editor Doc Robinson had the honour of being inducted into the Australian National Motorcycling Hall of Fame. For a new perspective in a language you understand, visit Heavy Duty Website. From Australia, Doc will even answer any tech questions you may have, wherever you live. Write to him at

This is definitely a great magazine and well worth checking out, I have quite a collection of them now, but riding a Metric Bobber I’m not yet a subscriber. The quality of pictures, articles and writing style, tech articles, and even just the quality of the printed material itself puts it at the top of the pack of Australian publications, and would definitely vival most publications in the US. Keep up the good work Doc 🙂
