New 2009 Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob

As you can see it has been restyled to enhance its “bobber” and “raw-boned” street performance look. More blacked-out features, a lower profile front fender, a higher chopped rear fender topped with a curved retro LED light, new laced wheels with gloss black rims, a re-designed solo seat, a silver-face speedometer with fuel range read-out, a new fuel sender are the main 09 introduced features and take the Dyna platform to a new old school “garage engineering” style. To also notice are new Straight Cut Chrome Staggered Shorty Dual exhaust, 160 mm-17 rear / 100 mm-19 front tires, 4.8-gallon Fat Bob fuel tank, mini ape-hanger-style handlebar, a 29-degree fork angle, a wrinkle-black console, battery cover and belt guard mid-mount foot controls. Available are optional anodized aluminum profile laced wheels and a ‘Smart Security Systembox’

I bought an 07 and blacked it out some more, but I like the new rear fender and taillight assy.
The silver motor doesn’t do it for me- it looks cheap and unfinished. the pipes are cheesy looking too.

The Black rims are cool and the silver faced speedo is cool as is the new seat
I also noticed that the MSRP is down… hmmm.

i also have an 07 the rear fender is what really makes the bike really one of the last bikes that have a whole fender not half . The front tire makes it look like its copying the fat bob. To me street bob is the best looking DYNA by far now its going down hill, lets get it back on track

I have bought the 09 Street bob I agree the silver motor is a draw back. I am powder coating it black. My question is and I here diffrent responses to it. If install after market pipes on the bike do i have to dyno the heads and have it re mapped. A sales mam at a local Harley shop told me that I dont have to . Wondering if anyone has done this to a Fuel injected system. I have done it to the old carb bikes but not the new fuel injected, any info would be great.
    Ride safe
    Cheers!

I HAVE 08′ BOB AND FIRST THING I DID WAS PUT S&S SLIP ON MUFFLERS, IT THEN IDLED HIGH AND RAN HOT, SO I GOT A POWER COMMANDER AND HYPER CHARGER AND NOW RUNS SWEET. INTAKE NEEDS TO BREATH AS WELL AS EXHAUSTED. BUT AS FOR THE 09′ MODEL IM HAPPY I GOT THE 08′. IM YET TO PUT 21″ FRONT WHEEL WITH WIDE GLIDE TRIPLE TREES AND 14″ APES.

also got a 08 bob…..the 09 looks like a plain sportster on steroids. black is better. put vance and hines short shots with the black sheilds se stage 1 intake and a cobra tuner. whole getup was about 1000 dolls. including labor bike is fast and sweet as hell

I just bought an 09 dyna street bob. i Love it. I would like to powder coat the whole engine and get black exhaust, much like TOd. I love the way it rides and handles. It’s a real head turner. How much would a powder coat job run on this bike? By the way, a good friend of mine works at my local harley store and he said if you change the pipes his mechanics will adjust the engine so it isnt runnng too rich or too lean. I wanted to knock the baffles out, but that will void the warranty. I need a bitch seat. does anyone know if the 08 dyna parts will fit the 09 dyna parts. please respond at mandslong@suddenlink.net …..thanks brothers

I just bought the 09 street bob, this is a bloody awesome bike that drives very very smoothly. the look in unique and an eye catcher. powder coating the engine is a great idea. I have new Bub pipes with the whole new exhaust system on the way, the pipes are wrapped in black. looks awesome. Because of great price of this bike you can get alot of extras and not feel like your over pricing on your bike. about 1200 bucks for the new exhaust system with BUB pipes. the sundowner deep bucket seat with smooth bucket passenger backrest pad looks great on this. plus the black mirrors with auxiliary running light and directional indicator looks awesome. works well with the black demin style of the bike. forward controls with the billet style levers in satin black with the diamond black collection of grips, pegs and shifter fit the look of this bike very well.

I just purchased the new 09 Dyna Street Bob in Dark Blue Denim. Really like the dark side look and is a real eye catcher in its stock condition. Like the old school look, as the silver engine color works very well for me!!! Had forward controls installed and will be during lots of upgrades. This is a super overall performing and awesome looking bike.

    Guys,

I had a sportster custom which was a lot of fun now a street bob, the thing is i feel that it,s not that stable and shake’s alot after 120km. any idea?

  11. 11 motz Nov 30th, 2008 at 9:13 pm

To ANAK you need a brace for your fork,I have 2007stretbob love wouldnt change for a new one,i think the new 2009 are a big set back that”s why they are cheaper because h-d knew your were going to waste the saving money to black it out. but like said I’m lucking to have buy my 07 streetbob.

I have an 07 streetbob and it handles great even up to 100 + mph much less 75mph or 120kmh. I do not ride that fast very often only when I was checking the power after the intake and exhaust upgrades. If the bike is completly stock then you should have no problems but it sounds like you may need to get it checked out. I have heard about customs with the front end raked getting a high speed wobble because the trail is not quit right but nothing on a newer bike like yours. If your bob is handeling poor then definitly get it checked if you can until then keep the shiny side up man.

motz, superscoot thanx guys for the feedback. Actualy i did brace my fork and every thing is just fine now ..i love it and by the way motz the BOB i have is an 08 not 09 and i really do think that the 09 is a huge set back . Any way guys thanx alot again.

I bought the ’09 street bob in vivid black. What I did was put on Roland Sands Vintage black bars and Vance and hines shot Staggered black pipes and the screeming eagle Black in take. Also I ordered the Brawler solo seat with orange alligator flames with blue stitching. The bike looks great and runs pretty good as well. I’m real happy but I wished that they would have blacked out the engine some moer as well as the primary and tranny.

just bought a 09. had to put lowering kit on back to make it fit. not everyone that rides is 6ft…..i love that this doesn;t look anything like a chick bike……

  17. 17 jls Jan 15th, 2009 at 9:21 pm

    ANAK,
In the manual under troubleshooting, page 144, it gives a bunch of stuff to check when there is excessive vibration: wheel nuts, engine mount, damaged wheel, broken frame, and improper alignment. Check it out.

ps I took delivery of a 2009 street bob in December and love it. To me it is a real riders bike — not touring, not just show, not just straight out speed, and not compromised with too big tires and, to me, unnecessary goodies. Just my style.

I’m looking to buy an 09 street bob and am very eager to do so. Just looking for some advice on the bike itself, what customs to add on and so forth. I like the idea of blacking the engine out as i too am not a fan of the pewter engine. I saw someone put a lowering kit on, i’m 6’3 and am not to sure if it is necessary. any feedback would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I just picked up my ’09 Vivid Black Street Bob on Friday. I love this bike! I was riding an ’08 Sportster 1200 Low and traded it in under H-D’s “We Ride Free” promotion. I really love the way it looks. I’ve seen some criticism on the silver motor and the matte silver transmission case but I rather like the way they look.

Took it out for a 150 mi ride on Friday and was very impressed at its handling in the curves. It feels very solid and responsive and boy, what a difference from the Sportster!

I love the taillights – they look great from behind. I’m adding some Wild 1 ape hangers to get me seated more upright (the original mini-apes had me leaning forward a bit as I’m only 5’4″), , a fender rack, and H-D hard leather bags. My husband had the simple hard leather bags installed on his ’09 Fat Bab and they look fantastic. I also got the compact detachable windscreen for those 80+ mph freeway rides and for commuting Also added heated hand grips (again for those cold mornings commuting) and some really nice Kurakyn ISO-foot pegs that support my entire foot.

I am grinning from ear to ear riding this bike. Love it!

The ’09 Street Bob is solid and not a cruiser; but a raw bike through and through. When I went looking for my next bike I wanted something that would deliver torque and eat up the curves. The Dyna SB delivers.

    This bike has a soul.

If you’ve ever wanted a stereo on your bike, this Dyna is not for you. If you want a bike that is true in the corners while the motor tells you what your next move should be; go out and buy yourself a Dyna Street Bob.

    Have fun-Ride safe

I have the 09′ Street Bob and it was the rear fender and tail light that just did it for me. At first the two toned engine was a sweet look, but the draw of more chrome has done it for me, so I added the chrome dress up kit from HD and it’s so much better. As for exhaust, I started with the V&H slip ons, and just did the V&H VO2 air kit and didnt have any issues what so ever, just a little more popping and back fire than stock. Then recently I changed out and went with the V&H short shots, did the cheaper plug and play HD tuner and wow, what a difference it makes..response is right there, and not nearly as much backfire or popping and the sound is wicked.
Now I have a question if ya’ll wouldnt mind..I’m trying to find a fresh set of fenders to get custom painted, where is there a place online that I can get them from? thanks yall, and ride it like you stole it!!!

    Street Bob’s rock!!!

ive got a 08 street bob and love it. I wished that harley would have blacked out the engine on the 09. After all the colour is what the bikes all about. And i also like my back fender better , the half dosent do it for me. As for the pipes i drilled them out 1 week after i bought it..Of course now im putting headers on it. cheers maurice

Bought a black denim 09 SB 4 months ago (Australian model) STD with smooth alloy rims, paid AU$24,500. I like the silver motor and black top end. I feel HD did well on the old school look from factory considering they have to meed DOT rules, I don’t ! so I did make a few changes, forward controls (Black) with 5″ pegs, V&H 2-2 big Rad (Black), SE 211’s, SE Air cleaner (ECU remap with HD tuner), 08 wide glide tree’s and tubes, fatboy headlight, and 15″ Apes, the only change I did to the rear was short indicator stems (08 FXST). and smoked lenses. I kept all of the original parts, Just remember in the future the 09 SB may be collectable as it only ran for 1 year with silver motor. I like it! go’s hard enough (86HP at rear on dyno) and sounds good, turns a few heads even though I have no chrome.

I have an 09 Streetbob, vivid black. I put a sceaming eagle stage one on it with big radius vance and hines short shots, I blacked out the blond parts and it looks great, I also had it lowered with
progresive shocks . I customised the seat, narrowed it , took out some foam and added memory foam. I had a signal light reloacator customised to put on quick release saddlebags which I use for long trips. Added a whole bunch of other crome as I like the look of crome and black. I went on a 3 week bike tour into British Columbia , Montana, Idaho and Washington. the bike drove like a dream. I paid $14,000 dollars for my bike in Caanada

  29. 29 Jeff Aug 29th, 2009 at 2:46 pm

I have an 07 Street Bob. I bought it used, one year old with 3,000 miles. Since then I put 9,000 miles on it.
    The problem are:
    1. front fork seal leaks, after further investigation we found that the seal bushing was made poorly and scratched the tube causing it to leak.
    2. Bike shakes rough at low RPMs and clanks under the tank. It appears that the engine mounts are bad (way too soon for this). is this common?
there is no warranty but Harley should honor their product whether there is a warranty or not. it’s like they sell the bike and say after the warranty runs out, the bike turns into a piece of crap.
    Any thoughts???

Is anyone having issues with the 2007 security system on the SB? I have been riding mine this summer, but was off of it for about a month. When I went to start it up, the security system is flashing at me and it won’t turn over. Ideas?

G’day ,i live in australia and just bought an 09 streetbob and took it for a ride and scrape on most sharpish right hand corners, has anyone else found the bike scrapes? would stiffening the rear suspension and/or changing the pipes fix this problem, the bike is dead stock.
