Best 2009 Custom Hand-Tooled Motorcycle Seat

billylanecrockermotorcycleseatSoon in Sturgis Billy Lane will ride around town on his new custom-built Crocker motorcycle.

For his seat, Billy worked with master seat maker Adam Croft at Last Ride Customs. Here the gorgeous result. Because of the extensive hand tooling work involved (wish I could show you a larger picture to demonstrate the intricate details) I consider it the best custom seat of the year. And of course, it’s only my opinion…(I am certain I missed a few…)

Billy should be in jail not on a custom anything!

  3. 3 MIKEOUT Jul 20th, 2009 at 10:10 am

Very nice seat, but Billy should not be able to drive or ride a motorcycle for many years. If he still has a license, something is wrong in the world today!

  4. 4 Shifter Jul 20th, 2009 at 10:29 am

Billy Lane still has a license and is not sentenced. So, legally he can ride. So why he would refuse to do so while he can.

  5. 5 Jeff Nicklus Jul 20th, 2009 at 10:36 am

Billy will have to receive permission from the court to even travel to South Dakota let alone ride anything. He has entered a plea agreement wherein his license is suspended for “life” as of the date of the Court accepted the agreement. If he rides anything (on a public road where a license is required) it will be without a license and in violation of his plea agreement.

Jeff, I think you are wrong. There is a plea to admit involuntarely manslaugther, but he is not sentenced (August 14). I think that you are confused by what the prosecutor wants at sentencing. It’s at sentencing that the judge will decide. He can freely travel in the US and ride with his license until this date.

    Awesome seat. Superb crafstmanship.

  8. 8 Jeff Nicklus Jul 20th, 2009 at 11:00 am

You are wrong my friend. Billy is on Bond in the State of Florida and as such he, under the terms of the bond (any bond for that matter), is not to leave the jusistiction of the court without permission from the court. Further, the judge has accepted the plea agreement and all that is remaining is to be sentenced on that agreement.

One more item: The day that Billy entered into the plea agreement and the court accepted that agreement Billy became a convicted Felon. The Court simply continued his bond until such time as sentencing was to take place.

uhh, are we talking about the same thing? is this billy the seat guy the same as billy the one and only billy lane?

either way will this billy that does the seats ne in sturgis? if so where?

does anyone else think it a little ironic that billy has Last Ride Customs make the seat for the bike he will ride last before losing his license for life? I think maybe God does have a sense of humor.

I thought Cyril was posting something about an awesome seat…. too bad some of you digressed into the Billy Lane legal discussion, kinda takes away the topic at hand: awesome seat! Enjoy the seat, let the legal system do it’s thing.

Unless my eyes deceive me Billy Lane is referenced in the very first sentence of the post, therefore we are on subject.

    Nice seat.

  16. 16 Brett Jul 20th, 2009 at 8:22 pm

to clear a few things up, Adam Croft is the seat maker. He owns Last Ride Leather.

Also the fact Billy Lane used him isn’t ironic as Adam has many seats for Billy Lane bikes over the years.

As far as what going on with Billy Lane legally, time to quit trying to crucify him. Donte Stallworth, Receiver for the Cleveland Browns was drunk driving & killed a pedestrian in the very same state of Florida. The state were the laws are supposed to be so harsh & if you do something like this you get a minimum of 4 years. Stallworth plead guilty to the DUI manslughter which is more severe then the the vehicular manslaughter Billy Lane plead to. Stallworth received 28 days in jail for his sentence.

Seems to me a precident has been set. Give Billy his month is jail & be done with it.

  17. 17 Jeff Nicklus Jul 20th, 2009 at 8:36 pm

I didn’t read anything herein that “crucified” poor Billy. The comments were made that he is now a Convicted Felon, which he is, the comment was made that he is still free on bond and that he will need permission to travel to Sturgis, which is likewise true and there was one comment made that “Billy should be in jail not on a custom anything”. I fail to see how he is being crucified?

As for the sentence that a Judge rendered in the Donte Stallworth case ….. what has that to do with the price of tea in China? Different case, different people. Stallworth took responsibility for the death and his drunk driving immediately whereas, well we all know the Billy Lane story. In August 14th Billy will learn his fate …. up or down and at last it will be over.

    Bret & Pat,

“…about an awesome seat…. too bad some of you digressed …”

“…Billy Lane legally, time to quit trying to crucify him…”

“…Stallworth received 28 days….. a precident …. Give Billy his month is jail & be done with it…”

    Two things:
In case you-all hadn’t noticed, not too many of us on this blog give a rosy rat’s ass about what anyone one thinks we should or should not say or do. (that’s the nature of the biker beast).

    Different people, get different “deals”:

Carol Chessman got the chair (and he only “had sex with that woman” [what’s-er-name]),
    While Billy Jeff Clinton walked.

And so, BL had Booze in his blood while OJ had blood all over his socks and glove.
OJ walked while it looks like BL won’t.

Basically, life is unfair and any attempt to “re engineer” that fact has always made things worse.

  25. 25 bikerbabe69tn Jul 21st, 2009 at 5:04 pm

If it was Billy’s first offense and was an actual accident I would be a lot less adamant about his punishment, but as it is his third arrest for this action and he was driving into oncoming traffic across a double yellow line on A1A,the street he lives on btw,is unforgiveable for any vehicle operator, but as a biker??????????? I have never heard of anything so agregious and irresponsible as a rider.if he wants to kill himself that’s one thing. But as an icon to bikers and someone who earned everything he has from riding and bikers,it is inexusable behavior!Anyone who argues it isn’t a biker and is a celebrity ass kisser who needs to go back to their giant boob tube to live life instead of riding for REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!Case F@$#ing CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. 26 Jim Mc. Jul 21st, 2009 at 5:38 pm

Hey ‘bikerbabe69tn’ using bluff and bluster as you have shows your inablility to view things in shades of grey. Not speaking of Billy, I’m speaking of your holier than thou attitude. No need to preach to the choir here. And Jeff Nicklus is also a single issue moron…refusing to evern reread what he has written in prior blurbs. Hey Jeff – if you are so damn smart about every aspect of this world in which we ALL live. Either run for Emperor or get your own blog (as if it would gleen any readers).. The point was – the seat. Happens to be on Billy’s bike and that should not give anyone and excuse to jump back on your personal grandstand – any of you.

    Jim Mc,

I would be willing to bet that I and very, very few others on this blog actually know Billy personally. So get off your high horse dickhead. I have never crucified Billy, not once. In fact on more than just a few occasions I have said that the courts will be the ultimate judge in this case and not anyone on this blog or any newspaper writers and I still hold those views.

Please note that I was the forth (4th) person to mention anything to do with Billy. No where in this rant have I crucified Billy. I only stated the obvious so go back and read what I said.

I, unlike the vast majority of “Fictitious Named” people on this blog, would say anything I have written to Billy’s face. Hell most of you are afraid to voice any view using your real name let alone expect to man up.

I may just run for Emperor and boot that half breed in the White House out!

    You go Man.

Don’t let these half wit no-name no-face face morons above even attempt to hack back at you. And Alex, just where do you get “negros” from….are you a person of color? Do you feel as though you should be bringing up racial profiling overtures here? Man Up…Disclose yourself as you really are! Can ya?

Jeff, you are always on point and if they do not like your posts…they can go wipe a fat baby’s butt clean because with one of my under shirts cause they are 100% cotton and someones baby’s moma picked it down har in the south just like they ones they sell at Suck Bang Blow in Myrtle Beach. As Jim Mc suggests…just maybe he should consider getting his own blog if he does not like yours or others comments on Cyril’s.

When you get ready to run for the highest office in the land, just let me know and I will be happy to promote your campaign into a winning victory with our industry brothers…vroom vroom! Maybe we can get you ranking in the poles after Bike Week and the Gator Nationals?

Jeff Nicklus…what I was attempting to convey is that you are to high handed about EVERYTHING. You don’t know everything, but I guess your mama didn’t instill any bit of humility into your wretched soul. And Boss Hawg…the Nicklus reference to the half breed in the White House was obvious to ayone who has read the entire blog line. No I don’t know Billy. No I am not a trained jusrist. That’s why I am non-judgemental. I pity so many of you. To use the anonimity of the internet to spew your hatred for your fellow man is cowardly. But Jeff N. Glad you would say it to Billy’s face, or anyone else…but I suppose that’s why you are considered a jerk by those of us who know you only by the crap you write. Remember everyone – the point was – THE SEAT. To snatch a single line and pontificate over it is immature and very much the arena of the small mind. Small people talk about people. Big people talk about events. Great people talk about ideas. What kind of person do you wish to be remembered as?

    Have a nice day.

  31. 31 Jeff Nicklus Jul 22nd, 2009 at 10:28 am

    Jim Mc,

If you consider that I hold myself to a higher standard, I respect the law, I respect people who deserve respect, I don’t tolerate failure or laziness then I am high handed. I voice my opinion freely and as an American I, at least for now, have the right to do so. If you disagree with me I have no problem with that … that is your right and I respect that …. in fact disagreement leads to solutions in many cases and that my friend is always a good thing.

What pisses me off is when someone like you and Alex, for example, put words in my mouth. I can not remember the last time I used the word “Negro”. Didn’t happen. For the record, and I have said this before, I could care less what skin color a person has. I care about a person’s character or lack thereof, Obama as an example. It ticks me off to no end to hear “Well if you didn’t vote for Obama you are a racist” …. whatever! I didn’t vote for the man because of his politics not for his skin color. One more thing for the record …. Obama is a half breed … sorry if that hurts your feelings. Also for the record I suppose most of us are half breeds … me, I am half German, a dash of Greek and load of Irish, I am told this combination makes for my great temper and smooth disposition, as I am sure you would agree.

One thing that has been said about me that is absolutely correct is I love to piss off liberals! I live for that!

Also, in response to your comment:
……“That’s why I am non-judgmental. I pity so many of you. To use the anonymity of the internet to spew your hatred for your fellow man is cowardly.”…..

First: In my humble opinion you, and others, who claim to be non-judgmental are such simply because you are weak people who are afraid to take a stand. You certainly are judgmental about me and my comments, what is up with that and your non-judgmental attitude. Also, please don’t pity me when you aspire to be me!

Second: …. “To use the anonymity of the internet to spew your hatred for your fellow man is cowardly.” Hardly! I use my own name, I am all over the internet (Google Jeff Nicklus or Desperado Motorcycles sometime) so I hardly use the internet to hide behind …. Now you on the other hand ?????? Further, since my opinions do not agree with your liberal views then I am spreading “hate” ….. give me a break. “Cowardly” … man that is a word that could never be used in the same sentence with my name!

OK, Jim Mc, go on back to your group hug now and have a wonderful day. I have to run now, after all I do have to get ready for Sturgis, and someone has to work to pay more taxes so we can feed to Obama voter base.

    Over & Out,

Mr Nicklus. I applaud this latest blog. It is insightful and I finally have some idea that you use your brain as much as your mouth (fingers on the keyboard). My opinion of you has increased 10 fold. However I must point out that use of the word Nego is correct usage for people of that race. There are three races – Caucazoid, Mongoloid, and Negroid. Nothing incorrect about Negro. I take umbrage at your use of the term Half-Breed as it infers something less and to some it could be interpreted as racist toward those directed As for non-judgemental attitudes…If it walks like a Duck, Quacks like a Duck, pretty good chance it is a Duck…or jerk or pigeon or…well, you get it. Sorry I am not a famous bike builder, nor famous in any other way, and am not all over the internet. I have however built a couple of bikes…both of which were bought before I completed either of them…to be used as promo items in a nationwide enterprize…and on TV. But please don’t ever say I put words in yor mouth…it wasn’t me and I’m afraid Alex may have gone to far into yesterday for you to recall previous rants! By the way…I never did read what you thought about – THE SEAT? Oh, one thing – “Over & Out” means you’re done…not gonna respond any more. Have a nice day.

Seat ??? What seat ? Oh yes, there is a seat …. great job!

I have no problem with the word “Negro” I simply stated that I have not used that word, to the best of my knowledge, in this blog or anywhere else that I can remember.

As for the term “Over & Out” I will give you, and some others who have commented on the term, a little insight as to why I use the term in all of my writings for public observation. Many years ago in a time and place far, far away and long gone I had a very close friend, who happened to be my backseat man, during a war that many have chosen to forget. He and I always thought the proper military and civilian procedures on the radio were humorous so we coined the term “Over & Out” and we used that term with each other to make light of the obvious and most times to keep our sanity. The bottom line: I came home from that conflict alive, my friend did not. I therefore use the term out of respect and memory of my friend. Enough said and I am ….

    Alex & Mac…….

“….Nicklus: Always seems to come down to negros and liberals with you, huh?…”

Le-me give ya a better target.

I have previously proclaimed that BO’s election has finally unfettered us from political correctness. To that end Black, White, Colored People, [whatever]-American…… etc, etc, are now irrelevant terms relegated to the ash-can of political history. We are all either Americans or we are Visitors.

Moreover, if you’ve spent any time on this Blog you’ll find that i’ll typically find fault with any Liberal position, as being little more than wishful thinking in the face of reality.

From now on i’ll be using the term Negro and Caucasian.
And so, to state that BO is “The First Negro” is correct in every sense of the phrase.

Now if you-all find that racist……. well, sorry, that’s not my problem, ……
The position i take is simply an accurate perspective of today’s political reality.

If nothing else, some knowledge of Motorcycling history strongly suggests that “Biker” and “Liberal” are mutually exclusive concepts.

And if all the above happens to offend Liberals’ sensibilities….. well … BONUS!…….
Retirement precludes me from having to “make nice” with perspective customers…… 🙂

    Oh ya…….. “Over”….????

Blew my back out pulling a paddle-boat full-a water up onto the dock.

Been on meds for a week trying to get that under control.
Finally took a test ride yesterday. Freeway is ok but bumpy back-roads are still painful.

Going with the troops through that loop up around Glacier is gonna be an iffy proposition, depending on the road surfaces….. 🙁

The other alternative is to split off and just roll-down the interstate straight to Sturgis by myself.
    Where are you-all staying…….???

I really like the seat. I wish I was going to be in Sturgis so I could photograph it. I have hundreds of photos I have taken at bike events. I like taking pictures of Billy’s and Indian Larry’s bikes (his are still usually on display) Evertime I look at their bikes I see something I missed the last time I looked at them.
Again, that is a hot looking seat.
