Bonneville Speed Freak Lady

michellemielke11michellemielke22michellemielketerAs I told you before quite a large number of ladies from 16 years old to…are present on the Salts of Utah. Some just to test their machine because a “White Dyno”  will always be more exciting than a shop one and getting a Bonneville time slip is a very precious collectible. Others, like Michelle Mielke are there for a world record in their bike class. It’s a beautiful thing to observe her getting ready every morning, patiently waiting for the salt to offer the best conditions (it can be hours of sweating in your motorcycle racing suit even with a devoted husband protecting you with an umbrella ).

Then straddling her bike as soon as possible for a couple of runs,  then jumping of joy when reading the little printed numbers giving you your speed on the mandatory 2 runs. Wife of Joe (from Klock Werks Crew), mother of beautiful Tiadra, supported by several members of her family, Michelle came to show me her time slip. On her very special 02 Yamaha Road Star Warrior running in the 2000 MP Class, she did a pass at 140.021 mph then could not do the return because of late evening head winds. But today is day 3, and several Salt Dogs told me that this is the day, because of very dry salt, when new records are going to be shattered. You can follow michelle progress on her Racing Blog

No offense to these great ladies, but is there anyone else on the salt? I’d love to hear about some of the other vehicles out there too.

Great job Michelle, Joe and Klockwerks crew. Well done indeed. Michelle is a very quiet young lady but when she gets on a motorcycle on the salt she loves to go fast. Congrats to Cyril for passing along great human interest stories. Keep bumping that record up today and tomorrow. You guys rock and I am proud to be partnered with such great classy ladies and gentlemen

Awesome job Michelle ! Jane, Emily and I have been watching and hoping this would work for you. Every success story involves a great team……and you sure have one of the best. Joe is an awesome fabricator and tuner and I’m blessed to have him for a friend. The rest of the Klock Werks team and Kiwi are awesome too. I’m very happy for all of you. Enjoy your time on the salt. Hope to see you when you get back.

Was a pleasure visiting with you on the salt Cyril. Thanks for taking interest in out Team, Both Klock and Kiwi.
Michelle’s best run of the week was 144.006 mph backed up with a 142.012 mph giving her a two way average of 143.009 mph. We passed inspection on Friday and that should be good for a new AMA National Land Speed Record.

Congrats Michelle, I’m so proud of you!

May have jumped the gun on a record. Saw today another motorcycle was registered to run in the same class as Michelle did. Do not know if they were at the event or if they were able to run. So I have no idea how fast they may have gone. Either way she did great.

    Peace
    Joe
