OCC American Chopper Gets An Encore.

paulteutulseniorWho would have thought 6 years ago that American Chopper, the Teutul saga, would be plebiscited by the public for a 6th season. On Thursday October 22 at at 9pm (ET/PT) a new series will show the struggle of Paul Teutul Sr. running his motorcycle business while Junior and Mikey are no longer working at the shop. The scenario (yes, there is one) is the following: how Senior and his employees are going to forge ahead with the business of building bikes?

Will they be able to do it without the 2 sons (as a matter of fact, only one)? Ye, yes and yes (sorry for disclosing the epilogue). Here comes the “Saginaw Chippea Indian Tribe” bike, then the “Electric Siemens Smart Chopper” followed by the “The Band” an OCC co-workers built custom bike. But wait, on October 29th an episode will air promoting an OCC Rock Music CD featuring Senior’s all time favorite songs by artists like Eddie Money, Kansas, Mountain, Rick Derringer. The best part? 3 tracks by OCC with, amng next to be hits, Paul Senior singing “Summertime Blues”. Don’t miss this “custom one-off tracks” available at major retailers and digital stores. There is a very lucky guy that everybody forget to mention. His name is Craig Piligian and he is the executive producer of the show for Pilgrim Films and Television producing the show for TLC.  He is sitting on gold and may get a new idea for season 7th. Like “The return of Paul Teutul Junior”…(Paulie, it’s one year we didn’t talk. If you need some advice, call me).

    Is this even news?

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the “world headquarters” to be foreclosed on.

The Starbuck’s biker voted and the answer is yet another season. The local OCC shop went out of business with 3 years. They call them customs but the only difference in that showroom was choice of wheels and paint.

Maybe Sr. will actually build some bikes that you can ride now that Junior is outta there. I’m sooo tired of “theme” bikes that are basically the same frame with a bunch of window dressing…each more outrageous than the one before.

Love it or hate it,u cant ignore the OCC american choppers series…they had taken the chopper to every home worldwide.

as for the OCC goes, senior have money and he can hire tons of builders…paul jr was good designer no doubt but micky was just…a employee who does nothing and enjoys everything, cause he was teutel…

maybe Sr will now have a shop he always dreamed of..Good luck.

Goes to show that they will do anything to stay on TV. If it wasn’t for Dee riding around Daytona dressed as spiderman, no one would have ever heard of Over the Counter Choppers. It’s all a big sham on all of you who really think Jr. is gone for good. He’ll be back after his vacation, and he’ll bring the janitor brother with him. How long can a so called father and son bitch at each other, they’ve been doing it for years and most of you watch it like it’s real. Don’t tell me that you wouldn’t walk
out the door with your middle finger in the air after only a couple of days if your father bitched at you like that, anyone with an ounce of self respect would. Anyone but Jr. and Mickey, they must like it or it’s for the MONEY. I would guess it’s for the latter.

give the old guy some respect he deserves it from what he has gone thru to what he has become is awesome too bad his sons are so spoiled rotten and are basically just lazy and livin off what daddy throws at them trying to give them opportunity to become something with thier lives and just throw it away like a joke. ok so sr. is a lil hard but arent you supposed to try to teach your young?

At Sturgis this year there was still a long line of fans each time Paul Sr was signing autographs.
Love ’em or hate ’em, OCC has done more for the positive image of choppers than any one who went before them. Sure, they are in it for the money – but c’mon now, who wouldn’t be?
All over this planet, hundreds of thousands of kids have a gleam in their eye and a stirring in their blood for custom bikes and biking in general – all of it directly due to this show.
When the OCC crew came to Australia and built the execrably styled Aussie Chopper it didn’t matter. I attended their down under show and it was full of dads, moms and kids of both sexes alight with enthusiasm for choppers and the positive side of the chopper riding lifestyle. These kids are the future of custom biking and they’ll be there because of American Chopper. IMO everyone in the industry owes them a big thank you. No exceptions.

If you dont like the show. Turn the channel. I think the show is entertaining. Thats all its meant to be. I think some people are jealous because they didnt think of it first.

  10. 10 Everybody's entitled to their opinion Oct 20th, 2009 at 9:37 am

For what it’s worth…yeah…show’s been on a bit too long, but at the same time, you can thank that show for exploiting the industry down to the last bolt and allowing it a heavy gain for many years ahead of the collapse.
Starbucks drinkers or not (well put though), there was tons of money being spent out there, because a chopper was the new Corvette in the garage…people wanted to belong and all those baby boomers pulled a 2nd on their mortgage in hopes of looking cool.

The bikes…yeah…a bit old, but some of them cool. Come on now…you know you liked a couple of them. The production series, I think I would have stayed away from that one and kept my money in my pockets. And hell, if you can sell out and make an extra few million, why not…Harley just told you they were gonna focus on selling the “biker lifestyle” instead of their bikes, so who are we to judge?

Either way, you can thank the popularity of their show for a lot of things, including the Cager’s awareness.
When they fade out after the next year, you can light into them and call them the has beens, but they’ve all got a ton of money and a series that will stay in syndication for a couple of years.

    How’s your portfolio?

  11. 11 madpuppy Oct 20th, 2009 at 9:52 am

Maybe Paul Sr. and William Shatner could do a “duet” CD like ” Hall and Oates” ?

    $$$ send some my way!

Any business is good business and in the case of OOC the media end for them has been very good. Although I am not a viewer or fan of their bikes you can’t help but believe that media sponsor investment has paid off well – even with our speculations of not so good ratings here there is still must a large enough audience to support a good ROI on the investment. If this is true I also can’t help but believe they could improve those numbers with a new format – hopefully bringing to the media light some of the great builders that frequent Cyril’s blog – for starters Mr Nicklus perhaps could probably give them a good run for the winter, Cyril the spring….

    Cheers!

John Adams. It’s a great idea. Let’s put 3 different personalities together. Nicklus, Huze & Senior together. First stupid design idea from Senior, a slap from Cyril. First bad weld from Senior, a punch thrown by Nicklus. No script. Just natural reactions. Great television. Would double audience on this episode.

There are those who like them and those who don’t. Can’t deny the fact that they have brought a lot of people to the industry that might not have done so. Not eveyone has bought an OCC bike but have bought someone’s custom bike and for that they should be thanked or at least acknowlged as helping sell bikes and parts. They have made enough money that they can survive the current economic times. Their production bikes are well built with quality parts and prices are not any more than anyone else’s. They stand behind their product and seem to be working towards holding customer appreciation rides, get togethers, ect. Personally,I would rather own one of their bikes vs Big Bear,Big Dog or any other like built bikes. I also enjoy watching the show and would like to see more shows dealing with the motorcycle industry and motorcycles. Not quite sure how the Detroit Bros are going to do with the new show they have coming out but from what I have heard that show doesn’t strictly deal with bikes but is more along the lines of a show called Monster Garage. Should be entertaining and I hope they do well with it just as I hope that American Chopper stays on for a couple more years. I realize there are some guys out there that would not agree with this but everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is mine.

  18. 18 Walt Lumpkin Oct 20th, 2009 at 12:58 pm

No matter what your opinion of the OCC crowd may be they did heighten awareness of the bike industry. You can go to any back bay hellhole in the country riding a bike, especially a custom, and you will invariably get questions about American Choppper.

A lot of these people couldn’t begin to tell you the difference between a chopper and a bagger but they are courious about those of us who ride and more often than not offer compliments on your ride. Even my never washed Street Glide. Never did figure out why they think my nasty ride looks so good. I’ll thank Senior next time I see him for allowing me to be lazy and cool at the same time.

You know Dood’s, I remember their First Bike that Put them on their Journey! It was the Spiderman theme Bike, and It got a lot of traffic. This was a before Senior and His Son’s became became “FAMOUS” .! I remeber talking to Dad and Paul Jr and asking them ‘How much for the Bike”? They responded $80,000 and I said to Paul Jr. who is going to pay or Buy a Novelty like that for $80K. He said that it would go to a Collector of Memorabilia ! I said” Who would BUY a Bike as an Ornament” ? They were trying to sell the Bike to a Memorabilia Person? All their Bike are Memorabilia Bikes. That’s what makes them Famous. They Build Bikes for that kind of Clientele. Little DID i OR THEY OR ANYBODY ELSE FIGURE THAT THEY WERE TO BECOME FAMOUS AND THEY WERE GOING TO END UP IN MILLIONS OF HOMES EVERY WEEK. DOOD’S MY GRANDMOTHER HAS SEEN THE SHOW! ANYTIME A PERSON THAT SEE’S ME IN A NON MOTORCYCLE SETTING, COMES AND MAKE A COMMENT ABOUT A cHOPPER, OR CHROME , CAUSE THEY TELL ME THEY WATCH THEIR SHOW. THEY HAVE DONE VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD THINGS FOR ALL YOU DOOD’S IN THE INDUSTRY. WE KNOW THEIR BIKES AREN’T THE GREATEST! SO WHAT! EVERYBODY THEY HAVE BUILT A THEME BIKE FOR “LOVED IT” ! THAT’S WHAT COUNT’s.. I ASKED JESSE WHEN HE WAS ON BEACH STREET SELLING T-SHIRTS AND SITTING ON A LOUNG CHAIR, EXHIBITING AT DAYTONA BEACH AT THE SAME TIME ! HEY”JESSE, WHAT DID YOU THING OF THAT SPIDERMAN BIKE”? HE SAID TO ME PRETTY SERIOUSLY “I LIKE MORE BIKE AND LESS BULLSHIT” !TO ME THAT WAS A CLASSIC LINE AND , LOOK WHAT THEY DO AND BUILD, EVEN TODAY ? I PROMISE ALL YOU GUYS IN THE INDUSTRY THEY ONLY HELPED YOU, IN EVERY ASPECT ! ASK CYRILL, WHAT HE THINKS?????

  23. 23 A$$HOLE Oct 20th, 2009 at 9:56 pm

I cannot wait for the new show to come out with Jr. pitching the Bar-B-Que grills he is designing for Coleman. Maybe there will be custom, one off, theme grills for companies who want some publicity, but cannot afford the $1ook for a POS to sit in their lobby. I about fell over when Jr was on the local news explaining how working with and designing grills was so much like designing and working with motorcycles. He said they both have wheels, run on gas, have gas guages, and get hot when you run them. WOW! Ignorance is bliss, and the Turtles are hysterical.

  24. 24 Jeff Nicklus Oct 21st, 2009 at 9:33 am

I can’t wait for the Junior and George Foreman infomercials’! Better yet I can’t wait to see George slap the crap out of Junior for hogging the camera on the infomercials!

i had awondered why ford could weather the storm and gm , chrysler couldnt and needed bailouts.
did you know that before the crash ford hocked zillions of dollars of its assets and is now in more debt than gm. its just that they did it with private loans while they were solvent instead of gm ect. when they couldnt get credit by waiting to long. its all the same thing and possibly worse for ford on paper .

  27. 27 Conrad Nicklus Oct 23rd, 2009 at 6:47 pm

May want to check your facts on the above statement about Ford…….I talked to someone about it that is deep in the company and they said everything but that and when I asked he just laughed and said absolutely not. I also scanned around the internet and nothing found like that besides what GM forums say. lol

  28. 28 Grinch Oct 26th, 2009 at 7:27 am

Jr and Mikey were the show. Not the old man. In the end — was it worth it senior?
I wish Jr and Mike all the luck in the world at their new venture. Even their Brother can’t deal with the old man. That’s got to tell you something.
Sr needs to make amends with his boys. If not he can kiss my ass!

For the rest i will thank the whole team of OCC for the relaxation when i can look too the show.So i wil stop here whit just one thing…Keep up the good thibgs…!

  31. 31 chaserhill Nov 24th, 2009 at 3:26 pm

Like them or not most of you know that you would have done the same thing. If they come back for a seventh season well good for them. theres a whole lot of worse shows to be watching. and for all the haters…if you dont like them then why are you watching and taking the time to post a comment about them on the internet. if any of them were standing if front of you would you really tell them you think their bikes are pos….probably not. you would probably ask for an autograph or take a picture with them. of course you wouldnt admit it right now but thats ok. keep pretending to yourself.
