i saw the 48 at the bike show last weekend. its tiny. really low. its a pretty cool bike, but the price tag def. needs to be lower. AT LEAST under 10 grand. down around 8 would be even better. i ride a streetglide and a little bike like that would be cool to rip around town on, but at that price, id be looking into a used / couple year old big twin for about the same money.
The 48 is one of the coolest bikes the factory ever put out. And at the advertised ‘around seven bucks a day’ should be affordable for a great percentage of the target customer base.
If HD really wanted to reach gen X and whatnot, then they never should have discontinued the Buell line. That commercial was super gay, and you could do the same thing with a used sporty and a few aftermarket parts for a fraction of the price. That bike is not new at all, it is just that the dweebs at harley are finally catching up to what people have been doing to their sporty’s since before I was born. I am not at all impressed.
Wow. They’re trying to reach me and my lifestyle. Now I want a Streetfighter (cheap, fast, good gas, sexy and not associated with a dying, desperate brand).
i think with a price reduction, down in the 8 g range…the money they might not make now, would be made back later. and would insure the sale later, as well as the company being around for the sale.
im not a corporate guy though and prob. dont know what im talking about.
Your right Dylan, this commerical does look like targeted towards the XY gen and rightly so. I think it was good, they nailed it. I like what the factory did to the Sportster models all around from the XR (homerun) to the 48.
Seven Sportster models ranging from $6k on up to $10k. Wide range of price points. I’m no dealer but is there an upsell factor here?
Hate to say when the factory line opens up in India (ugh),,,,,you think HD will lower their price, or make more margin? Hummm… im thinking more margin to appease the share holders after his dismal season. Although it would be nice if HD would lower their price on the Sportster line but not likely.
Well at least they are trying to reach gen X and Y. Still too much $ for a Sportster.
Nice, but yeah, $10,499 msrp is a little much.

cool comercial to reach gen X and Y,
they have to find new markets besides the typical harley 50 plus geezer glide riders

In this shitty economy that bike should be around 8k plus change.

They forgot a skateboard scene in the commercial. I like the bike but as others have said, too much money.
