Arnold Schwarzenegger Still Riding A Harley

It was a beautiful day last Sunday in California. So Arnold (Strong) Schwarzenegger, the 38th Governor of California went for a ride with a few buddies. Knowing that people like to mimmic celebrities, it reminded me your recent comments regretting that no celebrity (except Brad Pitt) is seen anymore riding a Harley or at least a V-twin motorcycle. Problem is that Arnie is now 62 years old, that the 1st Terminator movie was shot in 1984, and that some appearances on a baby-boomer looking Dresser is not going to rush any member of generation X & Y into buying a Harley. At least these shots of him in full safe gear will please the mother factory. So, which young celebrity seen riding a motorcycle would create a blimp in Harley sales? I hope the executives in Milwaukee are working on this subject. Any idea? (photo copyright Fame Pictures).

I looked this up remembering the news report. back in 2006

If you missed the reports, here’s the thumbnail. On a Sunday afternoon, Gov. Schwarzenegger was riding his sidecar-equipped Harley down Mandeville Canyon Road, a winding, two-lane, dead-end residential street in an affluent Los Angeles neighborhood. His 12-year-old on was in the sidecar. A car pulled out in front of him (most reports say it backed out.) The Governor was unable to stop or avoid and hit the car. Both he and his son suffered minor injuries. Schwarzenegger sustained a cut lip that required stitches. Suggested that there really was no traffic accident, that the crash story was just a coverup to conceal what really happened–his “collegen filled lips exploded.”) LOL

less than three years before, he had another crash, rear-ending a car on a two-wheeled Harley. He had no license then either. One wonders why he wasn’t cited then. I presume it was because of his celebrity. California did have a law stating that one who rides with a side car doesn’t need a MC endorsement.

I heard the young couple that created the Legend of the Motorcycle concours has been sourced to create a private charity ride this summer for Kiehl’s and Harley-Davidson with current actors and musicians participating. Don’t know if seeing young famous faces on Harleys will make sales increase but the goodwill can’t hurt.

I saw Pink roding a custom HD in one of her videos recently. She has it going on!

I’m sure that to the “young”, Harleys are totally un-cool.

Hey HD here is an idea, build cooler looking bikes, like the 48. These appeal to the next rising generation that will be buying your bikes. No slam against HD just evolve with the design times. Look at RSD, v-twin platforms and KILLER looks! Love the blog Cyril!

Put any male celebrity on a Harley with MEGAN FOX on the back, and it is sure to make a blip in sales.

“Put any male celebrity on a Harley with MEGAN FOX on the back, and it is sure to make a blip in sales.”

Probably not at all, since that would mostly appeal to the current riders who aren’t buying as much as HD would like anyway. That image of what riding an HD is like is part of HDs current image problem, not the solution.

    My take

    Lady Gaga

… think of her what you will, I, but she does appeal to a massive and diverse demographic that isn’t a classic HD rider or buyer. Anything to get away from the current wannabee bad boy 1%er/black leather wearing/retired boomer reliving his youth current HD riders is fine by me.

I am fed up with the same old murdered out bobbers with fake spikes, bullet, blades and bad arse bits all over that are currently in vogue. That kind of style just doesn’t appeal so much appeal to Gen X and Y and womens riders HD are trying to attract with almost no success.

Lady Gaga to design the next SVO HD, she can’t be worse than the current designers can she.

    More rhinestones, less matt black.

According to Zero Motorcycle press release, Gov. Schwarzeneger was at their factory to sustain non polluting motorcycles production.

Seriously, this is what he should be doing all the time, except for when it’s time to get off and mount, Maria!

Straight pipes and no catalytic converter. That’s illegal in California Governor.

Seems the Governator is a bit fickle or has a few motorcycles to exercise. Check out Arnold on an Indian Chief. Go Governor, thanks for supporting the Chief, and it’s the same color as my 2003 Chief…bonus!

Very important omission! There are TWO ways to get the motorcycle license in California. One is from the government; the other is from a private agency in cahoots with the government (the MSF). Being the governor, Arnold SHOULD have taken the California government test (which is ridiculously idiotic and impossible to pass on his large Harley). If he DID take the idiotic government test, he did it on a tiny circa 200cc bike, because anything larger than about a 650 is very difficult to pass the test, which is a circus act test designed by the MSF to funnel millions of dollars into their private coffers by forcing riders to pay the 200 dollar bribe to take their 2-day class which has a DIFFERENT (surprise surprise) and much easier test – yet again on a circa 200 cc bike (which they supply). Notice how ridiculous the situation is in California .. hence why it MATTERS that the governor should try to take his own test on his own bike (and he would fail like you can’t believe). So please tell us … WHAT riding test die Arnold take?
