John Reed, who knows a little bit more than you and me about very wild machines (wink), pointed out to me a website featured 30 wild machines (scooters? motorcycles?) from Japan. Is it a big trend in the country of the rising sun? Don’t know. But it is the proof that not all Japanese builders are into the old school style. Can it catch up here in the US? See more by jumping to Damn Amazing Things.

Now that I would buy one
Very cool.
I would ride any one of thise…. as long as it had NOS and a turbo
Just be glad no one there has cottoned onto fitting 30″ wheels on the front of scooters yet.
Nothing to do with Mods, but I like it a lot. 🙂 Thanx Cyril
what bikes are they using for a starting point? they are pretty cool looking and a great departure from the old school bobber look that is getting pretty tiring.
I suppose with jet skis being banned on a lot of lakes might as well put them on the street.
Reed man – fess up!
I bet you have one stashed at your place supercharged running nitrous! :O
And a green version running recycled chow mein peanut oil with a turbo.
xo
Looks a bit like the Honda Elite or a Honda Silverwing or to name another a Suzuki Burgman, the Silverwing and the Burgman can be over 600cc in some models and will scoot so to speak, along. Something for everyone.
I was in Tokyo two months ago. Saw about 20 of these tricked out scooters on the highway heading to the airport. Riders were all dressed and super bright colors like from the 80’s. Had a buzzing sound like a swarm of bees. Different but cool.
These are 2-wheel limos for Japs.
I was reading about this awhile back I think it’s a great idea for Japan as well as here as we do have a market for it and they are HWY suitable and ride two up,good idea, good looking scooters….
Low rider two wheel style
You don’t have to go all the way to Japan to pick one of these up – there’s one for sale on eBay. Custom built by Icon Motosports a few years ago for a catalog shoot.

Hey guys , I cant believe what I am about to say , I like it. I love drag bikes and that’s what they look like. The only disappointment would be when you cranked up and heard the buzz. But they still look way cool. glide-a-ped
Cool. I think a lot of this is probably inspired by their (the Japanese) being very passionate about their Anime television shows, movies and manga. Pop art has been big there for decades. The movie Akira and Final Fantasy VII (among others) feature bikes with similar futuristic looks.
Very cool design and fabrication. It’s always refreshing to see something NEW!!!!!!
WTF…………. they look like cockroaches.
This trend for scooters is pretty big in many Asian cultures right now, and is starting to make its way stateside, particularly with the Honda Ruckus, although we definitely have an “americanized” vision here. We even have a couple of guys stateside that are breaking into this styling market… http://www.dragoncustom.com
Pikatchu limo!!
